Hemköp

I work close to Torsplan, so I stop by this shop regularly. I think they have a great assortment and I like how things are organized. Have been extremely happy with the quality and variety of the meat. They also have a decent collection of international food items. Don’t forget to take a look at their fresh flower section, as this is one of the best value for money when it comes to flowers!

I took a trip outside of my usual shopping area to go to the Pris-​Xtra since I knew it was enormous and I might find some of the items I couldn’t find at smaller stores. Well, all the signs were still up but it was gone! Wandering down the street I found a new hemköp that was about to open and they were giving out free coffee and I really needed to get these items for a dinner tonight so I waited around and actually quite a crowd gathered by the time it opened. Maybe they were hoping for a long Swedish speech, or just didn’t want to miss the chance to queue =o) Once we were in, they handed out roses and champagne (maybe it wasn’t actually champagne but I don’t drink enough bubbly or speak enough swedish to tell)!
It’s a nice grocery store? I mean it’s brand new so it looks nice. I found tortilla chips which I hadn’t been able to find at Coop or ICA near me in Fridemsplan but no fire-​roasted crushed tomatoes. They have the automated check-​out machines but most people seemed afraid to use them so there were loooonng lines at the checkout but it had JUST opened to a long queue of people. There were 7 checkout lanes so they seem like they would be able to handle a lot of people normally. It could be that my memories are exaggerated but I remember the Pris-​Xtra it replaced being MUCH bigger. My cell phone didn’t work inside the store (it’s in the basement) so that was kind of sad but often par for the course with large grocery stores.
In the end, you can get food here and the vegetables were fresh — that’s what a grocery store is all about, right? Granted I was here on the most incomparable of days.
