My friend and I were walking around Chinatown late at night hoping to find a nice dessert shop, since all the stores seemed to be already or about to be closed. We happened across Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert, one of the few stores still opened on the block. Very local, traditional-looking Cantonese dessert shop. I loved it. The branch store at the airport is smaller but offers nearly the same, albeit smaller, menu. I ordered Coconut Milk Sago(西米露) with tapioca, mochi, and mangoes. Although the store location in Chinatown did not seem«squeaky clean», it was passably clean in comparison to local Asia restaurant standards. Service was quick and servings are satisfying. I absolutely loved their mochi and fillings. I had two with black sesame and another two with peanut powder. Both were delicious, I savored them for last. Recommend coming here to try their sago and shaved ice. Decent dessert for the price and good service! *Note: only CASH accepted.

Waited quite long for my dessert. Service is normal. The black seasme is not hot but not too sweet which is good. The mango pomelo is also not bad but the shave ice can be done better. Overall the dessert is decent but the overall can be improved

I’ve tried their Raffles City branch, and this newly opened outlet at AMK Hub really tempted me again so I gave it a go. The verdict: it tasted better than the branch at Raffles City! Yeah I know it’s probably my taste buds playing tricks on me or something. But still, I had the chance to properly try the noodles this time round, and they were actually pretty good. I hate dry wanton noodles, and the ones Sheng Kee served were done just right. The soup is doesn’t reek of MSG, and the wantons were dished out generously, each with a prawn inside that you can actually taste. The dumplings were less impressive compared to the wantons, but pretty good nonetheless. They’re running a promotion now where a set meal with a bowl of noodles, a yam/carrot cake, and a bowl of hot dessert costs you only S$ 6.90. Considering that the noodles themselves are easily more than S$ 5, this is an extremely good deal! Not sure how long it will last, though.
