York Marriott Hotel

Nice Hotel! Large clean rooms… With very comfy beds! Good restaurant for breakfast… Plenty of parking! Which is hard to come by in York! Very friendly staff… Would stay here again for sure!

Hotel has a pretty view overlooking the York racetrack. A fair ways out of town, and the bus is both expensive and doesn’t come all that often. I walked it most times, thinking I’d hop the bus if it passed me, which it rarely did. The hotel was old, old, OLD, with that old hotel smell. The room was ok, but given how much there is to see in York center, I think if you were visiting York, you’d be much better off staying in the downtown area.

A full-​service Marriott property located about a mile and a half from the York railway station and with a fab view of the famous York race course. This hotel has a pool (a small one, but it’s a pool), a sauna, a spa and a beauty salon plus bar and restaurant. As a ‘platinum’ level Marriott guest, it was very welcoming and had all the features I expected. The staff were all very pleasant.
The room was decently sized and I was upgraded to one with a racecourse view. Decent size tub and a separate walk-​in shower. The room was quiet and peaceful and there was sufficient security on the ground floor door to my «backyard.»
If I’m ever in York again, I would absolutely stay here.
Bonus: The #4 bus stops RIGHT out front.

We booked this hotel (our first UK Marriot stay) as the views overlooking the racecourse (in the room we had booked) looked nice on the web site.
We arrived to be told we had been upgraded (free) to a Penthouse Suite — same views, but at the top.
French doors opening onto a veranda with table and chairs on the opposite side of York racecourse from the grandstands and with a helicopter pad below.
Two showers, bath, two sinks in a bathroom bigger than our own bathroom and kitchen together.
No complaints about the room — apart from deciding which of the two minibars to use!
Food was nothing special in the bar and restuarant — you average chain hotel type food.
Breakfast was also typical chain hotel buffet — luke warm.
Service was OK, but on the first day, the cleaners removed a cup from the hospitality tray and despite two visits to the desk, it still wasn’t replaced by the time we checked out.
Would we stay again? Yes as long as it was in room 269

We have stayed at the Marriott Hotel in York twice over the last year.
It is a very well maintained hotel, and true to Marriott offers excellent service.
The restaurant was excellent for both breakfast and evening meal.
The hotel and rooms were spotless, and very well cared for.
I would certainly stay at this hotel again in the future.

Excellent luxury hotel located next to the racecourse in York, and with easy access into the city centre (five minutes’ drive).
My room had two huge beds, and was furnished with taste and quality.
I was too frightened about expense to use the minibar, especially when I saw how outrageously expensive an internet connection was. Hotels of this standing should really provide free wifi in this day and age.
I used Priceline to book this hotel, and paid a much reduced rate. I wonder if that was why i was allocated a room as far from reception as it was possible to be!
The hotel has a tennis court, leisure club, swimming pool and restaurant, but I regret that didn’t have time to use any of these facilities.
Undoubtedly, the best thing about the room was the bed, and Marriott are right to stress this comfort in their publicity. However, the bathroom was also excellent.
I left the hotel feeling very good. Highly recommended.
