Lovely little hotel in the picturesque village of Hovingham. The food is to die for, especially the puddings. The décor is comfy and refined(think roaring open fires), and the proprietor and staff are extremely polite and friendly. I always feel at home when I come here. In fact, I’d like to live here…

This is a small hotel in Hovingham just outside York. The village itself is picturesque and well worth a visit. The hotel is comfortable and the beds are great, it has many cosy sitting areas just to catch your breath. The restaurant is small but the food is divine, I recommend the lamb. It has its own small bar where you can also order meals, and it has a small private garden where you can order a cream tea and enjoy the weather. It is situated on the High Street on one side of a small village square overlooking Hovingham Hall which is the childhood home of the Duchess of Kent, lots of quiet country walks. Just the type of place to rest and recharge your batteries, I’d say is ‘Well worth a visit’.
