Was only going to be in York for one day so I wanted something reasonably priced and close to everything and found St. Deny’s. The location is about 2 – 5 minutes walk to all the shops and about 5 – 10 minutes to the York Minster. It appears that the building used to be somehow associated with the St. Deny’s church which is across the street. We were given a nice room(#4) with big windows which overlooked the church itself. The price we paid was one of the cheapest I found in York(about 49 quid/night) and that included a full breakfast that was very good. It included tea, coffee and juice as well as anything you cared to order off the menu, so we had a full english and scrambled eggs with toast, which was served by a member of their staff. Speaking of staff, they went above and beyond to be extra friendly and helpful. Everyone was lovely. The room isnt huge, but it has a nice bed, a TV and ours had a large bathroom with a shower/tub and a large picture window. Overall the place isnt posh, but it is above what I expected for the money, especially with the lovely breakfast included, nice staff and a great location. I will definitely stay here the next time I am in York.
