Husband had a burger and I had amazing Mac n cheese. We were so full but the food was so delicious we couldn’t let it go to waste. The husband said you must get Reverend James Gold beer.

I enjoyed this place. great beer selection including hand pulled. service was super friendly and food and beer was a good value. this isn’t fine dining, so pick the safe pub food(burgers, sausage and mash, fish and chips) and you won’t be disappointed. I’ll be back for sure

Good service but if you are looking for diner, the food was disappointing. I ordered a salmon cooked in paper with bok choy, peas and potatoes. The salmon was ok but the bok choy was almost raw. The peas were ok and the potatoes were decent. My wife ordered the fish and chips, which turned out to be passable, but far from memorable. This is a rather touristy place with a limited diner menu. It probably makes a nice pub as the premises was clean and neat.

Sightseeing is thirsty work. Walking, snapping pictures, shopping for souvenirs. And so when it was time for a drink, there’s the Punch Bowl. A couple of seats out front for the smokers, but I went in to this 17th century pub for a ‘swift half’. A full offering of spirits and what looked like a good selection of wines, I went with one of the real ales on tap. Professionally pulled, it was nice and cool. Perfect for drenching my thirst. Big seating area, I think this would be a fine place for a big bunch of friends to hang out. Dart board, television. And a big menu of traditional pub foods.

Great pub in York with lots of character and a friendly atmosphere. Several cask beers, I can’t remember which one I had but it was excellent :-) The food looked great and lots of people were dining which is usually a good sign. I’d definitely visit again if I visit York in the future and I’d check the food out next time.

We started an evening of pub crawling in York here at the Punch Bowl. For some reason, it seems that all the pubs in this city stop serving food very early. Thankfully the Punch Bowl was still serving up pretty good pub food. My friends and I all got fish and chips and weren’t disappointed. The fish was very lightly fried and broke right in your hands. It was very good and melted in my mouth. The tarter sauce was very tasty as well, nice and tangy. The atmosphere is one of crowded camaraderie, as is found in most English pubs. A great place to kick off or finish your evening, the Punch Bowl has excellent service and is a nice place to escape the rain or sleet outside.

This is a fantastic traditional pub in the centre of York. Great beer and wonderful food, i love the pies they are really well made and have imaginative fillings. The atmosphere when ive been in has always been warm and friendly, a little less hectic than some of the other bars on the circuit. Geat place to meet with friends.

The Punch bowl is a little gem in the heart of York — I’ve been there on numerous occasions as they often have live musicians playing. They serve Beer wines ans spirits like most pubs, but the special thing about the Punch Bowl is the food they serve. It’s FANTASTIC I always knew that they served food, but as most of times i’ve been there it’s been quite late in the evening so I never sampled the menu and it was until recently my partner and I decided to go in for a late dinner. The speciality dish at the Punch Bowl is Pie, but these are no ordinary pies! they’re a a huge selection to choose from, from your bog standard steak and kidney to delightful game and fruit pies, or cheese and fruit pies to suit the vegatarian. They have a special board which offer different feelings — always worth a look! They also serve steak, one of my favourite things — so that’s what I ordered, rare of course and I wasn’t disappointed it was beautifully cooked and tasted Devinne! Now onto the puddings! unless you have a very sweet tooth you will not manage a whole slice as they are enormous so I recommend you share! all in all a great place to drink and eat!
