Nothing wrong with it here. Student bar that used to be called the Varsity. Does food and lots of drinks. Nice outdoor area to go in the summer. Very big, has been extended since it first opened.

All the food was precooked and then microwaved after you ordered. On a Tuesday nite, they were out of half of the food items on the menu and half of the draught beers were out. One of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to.

We was visiting York for the day from Manchester and visited the Graduate for a drink, its like a Whetherspoons really with the same look, I thought it was quite expensive at £8 for 2 pints of fosters! It seemed to have a modern look going off but dosnt quite pull it off, it seemed to attract alot of stag and hen parties though. They seem to have a lot of offers on the food and drink like whetherspoons do though. Its wasn’t really our kinda bar though and wouldn’t return in a hurry as there are nicer bars in York.

The Graduate used to be Varsity and changed names a few years ago. I find it to be a nicer place to go in the daytime for food and a few drinks, rather than on a night. For some reason it just doesn’t seem that fun on a night out. There’s quite a lot of seating there with a selection of booths and big tables and things. Since the refurb and change of name it certainly looks more ‘posh’ and really quite modern and nice. Prices are average for York for both food and drinks and food is nice enough but nothing spectacular. Overall it’s quite a nice but average place and I am happy to go there but wouldn’t actively seek out to go.
