Loud, diferent to anything else in Yeovil… and food OK.

Came in for a quick meal and lunch and enjoyed a lovely meal. Friendly attentive waiters with a nice lunch menu. Reasonably priced too

Eaten a few times at the Tamburino Café at the top of town, and enjoy the all day breakfast on a Sunday! Rest of the food a bit of a let down. (and the staff speak very loudly around you… in italian! If only i understood them!)

The only reason I didn’t give Tamburino 5 stars is the unpredictable service. On quiet nights, the service can’t be beaten. On busier nights, you can sit for 20 minutes trying to get the waiter’s attention, and then, you can wait 20 minutes more for the requested item or bill.
The food is good. The portions are generous. The waiters are a riot and can be extremely charming. The guys in the kitchen wave at my teenage daughter and have even made her lasagna with a flirty heart shape carved into the top layer. When it was served to her, they all waved from the kitchen!
On busy nights, the restaurant can get quite noisy, so don’t plan a romantic dinner here. I wish I could give Tamburino 5 stars, I really do, but the service can be agonizingly slow on some nights, even going so far as serving half of the desserts 15 minutes before the other half of the family got theirs. Pretty unacceptable, especially with children. But, on a week night, fairly early in the evening, this restaurant is one of our favorites, and definitely has the mostfriendly waiters.

OK, I’m gonna give this place 4 stars, but I do have some caveats.
Food was pretty good, as was the layout and ambience. Service was good — switched on male Italians (yes, even down to the broken accents) waiters which makes for the whole experience.
This really is a pre-​party restaurant. The sort of place you’d book a hen or stag dinner before hitting the town (it’s a really classy wedding if you’re having your stage do in Yeovil, I know). So if you’re looking for an intimate setting to pop the question to your girlfriend, think again. But if you’re out with friends and looking to take the piss out of each other and get fed before necking 10 pints of Strongbow, then you can’t go wrong here.
Ladies — these waiters will be absolutely charming I’m sure, and there’s nothing wrong with a bit of fantasy. Guys — don’t take it to heart if it looks like the waiter is chatting up your girl, they’re just having fun. Fathers — don’t let your daughters near this place (only kidding!)
Tamburino’s a cool place to go. You could do a lot worse.
