Carpenters Arms

Beautifully re-​furbished country pub. Excellent food. I went there on Saturday 12^th Feb, called very late in the afternoon to make a booking and the chap was extremely friendly and managed to fit 5 of us in at such short notice. On arrival we were served quickly with our drinks and were allowed to sit in a little snug to browse the menus. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, plentiful, home made and very good value for money. Its rare to find all of theese qualities these days. An excellent little pub that we all agreed we will visit again, and again, and highly recomend to everyone.

Just had Sunday Lunch, recently reopened, it has been beautifully decorated and looks fantastic, but sadly the food lets it down… limited menu, pâté on the starter menu was cut from a slab and served with one piece of value thin sliced toast, butter in those nasty little packs, should have been home made pâté in a ramekin and butter in a pot, goats cheese was a tiny round stuck on a pile of salad with half a slice of bread — really unappealling. Roast beef was tough, yorkshire was one of those 4 mins in the over jobs, potatoes, carrots and sprouts were good but red cabbage had been boiled down to a purple mush. The vegetarian lasagne was ghastly, and the haddock and prawn mornay was drowning in a bowl of sloppy cheese sauce… personally I would retire the chef and employ someone who can produce quality food to go with the quality surroundings, wouldnt bother going back again, such a shame really could be so much better.

Had lunch in the newly refurbished Carpenters arms. Fantastic meal and cooked how i liked it. Menu is simple country pub food which is a refreshing change from multi choice confusing over the top menu’s you see in so many other pubs.
Décor is of a great standard with 2 fires giving a warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will be eating there alot more in the future.
From seeing how busy it was over the weekend i can only see this great little pub getting better and better.
Best of luck to all concerned as its nice to see a pub opening instead of closing.

Had a good lunch here today, just reopened. Limited menu. Wonderfully cooked vegetables. Only roast beef, overdone for me/​Attentive staff. Obviously spent a lot of money on refurbishment. Weekday menu pub grub. Need a chef. I could have cooked anything on the menu myself. Wish them luck, but I am doubtful they will succeed
