So after a swim at Droitwich Lido (see review) I find myself taking a walk around the streets of this spa town. Old-​Fashioned sweet shops are certainly on the rise, especially in tourist towns. Ive seen a few. I’ve never seen a more vast array of authentic old sweets though than in Izzy Wizzy Sweetiz.
There are jars full of sugary delights sold by the quarter. Pineapple rock, cola cubes, sherbet pips, and even Scottish specials that I’d forgotten existed. And over here there are 70s delights like Sherbet Fountains, and… liquorice firework selection boxes!
More modern tooth-​benders come in the form of Nerds and Wonka bars. Marvel comic readers who saw USA candy adverts will wonder at the now accessible Tootsie Rolls. And more!
Go on, if you’ve been to the lido, you’ll have already swum off the calories. Dive in! Enjoy!
