Oh my god what a depressingly poor pub, its a large Banks’s estate pub and though it sells two guest real ales these were very badly kept. Worse still was the very loud Friday night disco. It was so bad it emptied a third of the pub with folk retreating so they could get their hearing back. Saying that I thought the bar service was very good just a pity about the beer.

Having just moved to the area, this is now my local. Good Bank’s bitter served but no cask mild! And no guest ale either! Have spoken to the new landlady(Sept 08) who is speaking to the brewery about the sad mild and guest situation am hoping for changes soon. Food available all day to 10.00pm, very reasonably priced either usual menu or specials board. Too many tv’s showing sport for me, but at least there is a chill out zone at back to get away from the screens. Quite a mixed clientelle. Overall I like it. UPDATE: as of this month(April 09) they have a guest ale tap. Ok the guest is always one of their own breweries(Ringwood, Jennings etc) but still a welcome addition. Still no proper cask mild though. Update July 2011 been renovated and turned back to two rooms bar and lounge. Proper cask mild on at last and now also TWO guest ales, and not just at weekends. Well kept beer too, so well done and have upped the stars.
