I went off this place, but am happier again now. Ales are beautifully kept, though they tend to the light/pale varieties. Tried a Tim Taylor’s Golden Bestabslote nectar. Very fond of the cheese and onion cobs too, only a quid.

A great local boozer. No food apart from fresh ham or cheese cobs and bags of pork scratchings. Never mind though — the real ale available makes up for it; generally 4 ales on offer such as Wye Valley HPA, Deuchards IPA and 2 ever changing pumps. Happy hour with beer at £2.00 per pint. Update June 09: The landlord has stopped the happy hour and put the prices up twice. Now expect to pay £2.65+ for ale. Lots of locals now using The Chestnut as beer is from £1.79 and lager from £1.59!
