Looks like there’s a ton of company offices near Winnesh Triangle outside Reading, and if you find yourself in an all-day meeting there, I can recommend the Walter Arms for a nice evening afterward with your colleagues. The atmosphere is comfortable and convivial. not too rowdy — we could have a real conversation but we didn’t worry that we’d disturb other diners by laughing too loudly. Food is good quality and well executed. The wine list was ‘under construction’ when I was there but we got a decent Shiraz — price for the whole dinner was quite reasonable and your boss won’t give you a hard time when you submit your expense report either.

Now under new management and has improved immeasurably since. Good Pub food and good beers. Not bad for ambience either.

I used to take my late father here when he visited us in Reading. Since then the pub has been renovated and is nice and bright inside. The food is beautifully presented and the wine served at proper temperatures ! We tend to go for the full menu with a starter main course and a dessert. The service is very good and the staff friendly. Highly Recommended

The Walter Arms reopened a while back after a closure and refit — presumably under new management. The reopened restaurant serves excellent modern Gastropub faire with a good selection(not too big, not too small) covering interesting mains along with burgers, pizzas, and salads. Quality of the food, beer and service are all excellent, the prices in line with most good quality Gastropubs. I’ve eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. You’d be advised to book ahead, the Walter Arms is always busy. The bar area itself is very much a waiting area for the restaurant, I wouldn’t recommend it for a drinking night out. There are a couple of tables in there that they’ll serve food at, but they are of course first come first served!
