Great selection of gelato and pretty friendly staff. Finding a seat in the small outdoor area can be tricky during busy season.

Known more for their ice cream in Ireland, this café was the first one to open in England. They have a full selection of ice cream flavors, but I came here for their pasties. I got a traditional Cornish steak pasty, filled with tender beef, potatoes, and onions. The crust was wonderfully flaky and the filling was piping hot. I also tried the mushroom and chicken, which was also good, but I preferred the Cornish steak. I would have expected lunch near a tourist attraction as big as Windsor Castle to be expensive, but the pasties cost only £2.75 each. Just as the Cornwall tin miners that popularized this pastry, it’s great for take away, especially if you’re short on time and on a bus tour like I was.

I have some family visiting from Malaysia and I’m playing tour guide, which can be fun as I rarely go to the tourist sights otherwise. On a visit to Windsor at the weekend, Maud’s proved a nice stop for some light lunch. It has a prime position right opposite the castle. It seems to be famous for its ice cream but the freezing and damp British spring weather put paid to that idea. My visitors wanted to try some typically British fare. So, we got some warm pasties and sausage rolls, which were well received. Nice spot for lunch with a good view

Fantastic creamy, rich and delicious ice creams. Better than hagan daaz/ben and jerrys etc. Flavours are simple, but wonderful– i really like the strawberry, but the rum and raisin, guiness, baileys and honeycomb have all been popular with friends– and the odd lick of two i have stolen off them has confirmed their yummyness to me too! Right opposite the castle, so a perfect stop off after taking the tour. A couple of scoops in a nice big waffle cone will set you back about £3. but frankly even the one scoop cones are HUGE and very generously topped with creamy icey deliciousness– and for £1.50 you cant go wrong! If you feel like being all grown up, and not getting sticky fingers/lips etc, then you can get the ice cream in little pots with plastic spoons– but wheres the fun in that?!
