My family and I turned up here on a rainy Sunday lunchtime recently and as there were 9 of us and hadn’t booked we were pleasantly surprised that they were able o accommodate us at short notice. In fact the place was almost completely empty(not always a good sign!). The staff were very friendly; the food was decent enough(the pizzas were a little underdone)‘and the Café Latte was pretty good. 3.5 stars for that. The reason why I’m giving Avanti a 2 star review is that the toilets(both men and women’s) were filthy. The toilet and urinal were a bit messy but the sinks were disgusting. It wasn’t just a case of people leaving them dirty. They simply hadn’t been washed for what seemed like years. Food quality is clearly a major measure of the quality of a restaurant but so too is the hygiene of its facilities. I will be posting a photo of the men’s logos sink to illustrate my point. When I see toilets in the condition of the ones I experienced at Avanti I have to wonder how hygienic they are in their kitchens. I hope the management of the restaurant see this and do something about it.

Absolutely fantastic place! I was here traveling on business and hung out here for wine and a late lunch. The spaghetti bolognese was probably the best I ever had! The owner is very friendly and I felt so welcome! This will be my regular when I am in town!

Garbage. Capacino was milk with no coffee. Margarita pizza had no basil and cheap cheese. Terrible. Walked down the hill to a pub got better food for less money

This is a buzzing little bistro & coffee house. The sandwiches are all fantastic and staff are great. The few times I’ve been in it has always been busy and the staff know their regulars which gives it a nice feeling.

We had a quick lunch at Bistro Avanti on our day trip to Windsor on a Friday. We were both really hungry cause we skipped breakfast and just desperately wanted some place to eat. But we didn’t want some place too big or a chain and Bistro Avanti seemed to fit the bill. We ordered a pot of tea for two and the traditional British section of fish and chips and beef & ale pie. The fish has a bit too much batter, otherwise ok. The pie has a flaky pastry on top(not covered, but just kinda sits on top) with generous amour of beef, also pretty tasty. Neither dishes were great per se, but both decently priced, considering their location. The restaurant has a welcoming feel with friendly staff. Overall, not a bad dining experience.

Changing this review to knock off a couple of stars after returning to the place just a week after giving it five stars. We’d enjoyed this place so much, we went back a week later, having found ourselves in Windsor again. Well, what a difference a week makes. Will leave details of last week’s visit below, to show you how good they can be, but must add how this week’s visit was utterly spoilt. We asked for the same table as the week before, as it had been perfect for our little boy, with room to park his pram beside us and have h safely seated between us and a wall. This week, the same waitress that had been wonderful, instead bossed us into another unsuitable table claiming the table we’d sat at a week ago was a hazard for prams, even though she remembered us sitting there and we could not see why. So we were forced to sit cramped amongst a throb of other diners, all hemmed in with diners and staff knocking our chairs as they passed and our boy able to clamber on and off his chair instead of being wedged in between us and a wall. Cakes and drinks were as perfect as the week before, but we weren’t happy there. When paying, I mentioned to the staff how wonderful it had been a week earlier, but how forcing us to a particular table had ruined this visit. They just got a tad defensive. So, would we go back now? We’ll try them again but be ready to walk back out if they start bossing us to sit at tables we don’t fancy when others are empty with no clear reason why we can’t park our pram beside us. Five stars knocked down to three stars in a week. Pity. Previous week’s experience below. in here for a rest and a snack, rather than a full meal on Sunday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. We needed help unlocking half the door to get our pram in, but someone came running and once in we were very way welcomed and seated. Décor is very dated, but in a likeable way that suits and all was clean. Waitress was superb, and all other staff seen seemed very jolly. Cheesecake and carrot cake were large and delicious and my hot chocolate was just right. Well looked after and very happy, we will make this our stopping place down that end of Windsor from now on. They do a menu that varies, for full meals. Pasta, pizza, burgers, sandwiches and the type.
