For £7, you can enter the World of Beatrix Potter. If you were a fan of the books, like I was, you might want to check this place out. It’s very cute and creepy at the same time. Beatrix Potter bought a lot of land before she passed in Windermere to preserve the landscape in this quaint little area of England. Her estate built a little museum in tribute to her and her beloved characters. This place is great for kids as long as they aren’t scared of the creepy animals. I suppose that it is no different from going to an amusement park. You walk in and there’s a short film on the life of Beatrix Potter in the main viewing room. There’s a corridor with her characters strewn about and a small garden outside. There is a small café/tea room downstairs. I bought some tea and cake. The wifi is free for customers. You just need to ask the staff for the password. This is a nice stop if it’s cold and rainy outdoors. If you have children, they will enjoy it.

The children who I went with, both girls, 8 and 10, enjoyed the film. The older one was a bit critical of the way the characters were portrayed, but the younger one was captivated. The café was expensive. For a wet day in the Lake District £6 for adults and £3 for children, didn’t seem to extortionate.

Full of asian tourists and sweet little Peter Rabbit and Friends things. For children and grown-up fans great. Enchanting as the name says!

Please don’t take your kids here if they are older than three — they will hate you for it! This is the naffest aimed at foolish tourists ‘attraction’ ever. There is a small museum dedicated to all things Beatrix Potter at the end of the seemingly endless array of dressed up animal animatronics which brings it up slightly but there are more interesting places to go and see Potter stuff in Hawkshead. Most of the museum(if you can call it that) is a large shed where all of her stories are supposedly brought to life by ridiculous real life scenes from her books but we took our 2 year old and he quickly got bored of them(and slightly freaked out). They’d be better off just bringing one story to life so you walked through the whole thing rather than one scene from all of them which was just a bit pointless really.

This beatrix potter is a great exhibition for the small members of the family. It is so very well done and full of things to see both big and small. It is important to take the time to point out all the small animals hiding in little caverns and under the floors to smaller children who might miss them. It could be walked through really quickly which would be a complete waste or else you can just take your time and enjoy all of the sounds, the smells and all of the little funny characters. There is an informative film at the start and a lovely café for a lunch or snack at the end. It is all very well done and I would highly recommend it.

What a great place to take kids on a wet day in Windermere. On entering the museum you are greeted by a huge clock featuring many of her characters. You then wait to enter a small cinema to watch a brief film about Beatrix Potter and her life and inspirations, you then leave through another door that takes you into the world of Beatrix Potter, it is claimed that every character Beatrix wrote about is depicted, so look carefully. Many of the characters are motorised and children love them, there are lots of nooks and crannies filled with scenes from the books. You are allowed to take photographs, and there is a professional photographer who will take you picture, for a small consideration, near the exit. The shop is good and well laid out and the prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Although we only went in to escape the rain, we were pleasantly surprised by this exhibition. As we are not devotees of Peter Rabbit or his creator, the initial section, which comprised a film and related information about the life of Beatrix Potter, was wasted on us. Fortunately, the walk through the recreation of each of the tales was very well done, with the characters and their habitats modelled in intricate detail. After this came the inevitable gift shop, with stacks of delicate souvenirs placed at kiddie height, presumably to induce maximum parental meltdown. We had originally hoped to spend a few hours here, but there really wasn’t anything to hold a small child’s attention for that long, 50 minutes was more than enough.

This is a great day out. Loved every minute of it. This is a lovely magical place and great place to take children and an even better place for adults who want to remember what it was like to first discover this wonderful womans books.

I absolutely loved this place. It was like becoming a child again. Although we didn’t take long to get through it the stories were really brought to life with the displays and excerpts. The bit at the end detailing Beatrix Potter’s life was fantastic. The kids will love it. Although again it seemed expensive it was really worth it

Many of Beatrix Potters stories and characters are bought to life here, my daughter had a fantastic time and it inspired her to read all the stories again. For example you can explore Mr McGregors garden, and Jemima Puddleducks woodland glade. It’s not cheap — but well worth it for a fan.
