If Glasgow was a room, the Old Kilpatrick Hills would be the elephant. What I am trying to say via this vague metaphor, is that the beautiful hills sit right in front of the eyes of us Glaswegians but rarely do we acknowledge them. They are particularly striking at this time of year when they are snow capped on a bright sunny day. A jaunt up to their highest point, Mount Duncolm, is an easy one day walk from Glasgow which offers stunning views all the way to Greenock on a clear day.

Every wondered what those snowcapped hills at the end of Great Western Road are? They are the Kilpatricks, which stretch from Dumbarton to Strathblane(which divides it from the next hill range, the Campsie Fells). A walk up to the Kilpatricks makes a great day trip from Glasgow. There are some beautiful sights to see including Loch Humphrey and Mount Duncolm, the highest point in the hills. The journey back down, via the Greenside Reservoir, offers an incredible view of Glasgow and beyond.
