Italian Italian as opposed to American Italian. If you like Italian food try here, it’s not just pizza and pasta. booking is almost essential at night as it is very popular both lunchtime and evenings. Red Peroni available.

Superb food I had lobster ravioli and the rack of lamb both cooked perfectly. It’s only a small place and people seem to come in and out at regular intervals however no interruptions are ever caused.

Rustico redefines the way that Italian food should be cooked, presented, and served in this country. The approach of traditional cuisine, personal and friendly service, family values and atmosphere makes this one of the top five restaurants in West Yorkshire. And by far the best in Wakefield by a Tuscany mile The prices are pretty reasonable in the Evening’s too. Just can’t believe Rustico has not been reviewed up until now… I have been many many times to this lovely Restaurant and the lunch time specials are not too be missed, most dishes are around a fiver. Fabulous service every time and such welcoming friendly Staff, I often dine alone at Lunch time and am never treated with disrespect, some places are not keen on lone diners I find. *****

Visited Rustico on recommendation –booked as it was a Friday and also asked for a quiet table as we wanted to chat and catch up with friends. Downstairs was almost full at 730! Upstairs is a small room they are just refurbishing– a seating area for those waiting for tables, small bar and just a few dining tables. Good for us-doubt we could have talked much downstairs-but great atmosphere for parties, girlie nights etc. The service was good, friendly chatty waiter and the food very good. Our friend who knows his stuff declared his seafood rissotto the best he had ever had ! Halibut was excellent and pizzas highly rated also– portions on the generous size. We stayed chatting over coffees and didnt feel rushed. The little extras like bread, olives and limoncello are a nich touch.

This is a relatively new restaurant, but possibly the best in Wakefield. My Dad never used to go to Italian restaurants as he said he could do the food just as well at home, but this is now the place he takes any friends that come to Wakefield. It’s small but VERY popular and always busy so book in advance. It does get quite noisy and crowded but there’s an extra room upstairs, so ask to be seated there if you’d rather be somewhere quieter. Food is fantastic and reasonably priced with big portions, and the service is great — they even throw in loads of little extras, like an appetizer plate of bread and olives, garlic bread and lemoncello!
