Light modern and bright décor inside this italian. They do a lunch time menu of £10.95 for two courses, good value for money as they also bring bread, oil and olives. However, why oh why when serving bruschetta and mozzarella and tomato salad starters are the tomatoes ice cold? Has no one told them the way to bring the best flavour out of tomatoes is to serve them at room temperature?! Therefore the starter was mediocre. I had the hake with tomato and prawn sauce for main, hello only ONE prawn although it was a tasty prawn. I didn’t get cutlery at first which makes it difficult to eat your food. The waitress was very personable and efficient once prompted for a knife and fork. Italian maybe but I definitely did not feel I was in Italy not by a long chalk. I won’t be hurrying back. Xoxo

From the outside, Crostini looks like a café but on closer inspection, it is a proper Italian restaurant. My salsa friend and I ended up here last Friday before going dancing. The décor was quite modern and I was intrigued by all the signed pictures of professional dancers that they had up on the wall. However, the staff didn’t explain when they saw me having a closer look at the pictures. The main menu was supplemented by a specials board offering quite a lot of fresh fish on the day that we were there. We shared a very oriental sounding starter of deep fried crab claws with chilli dipping sauce. It tasted nice with crunchy seafood complemented by the dipping sauce but maybe not wholly Italian. I enjoyed my fegato con bacon — pan fried calf’s liver and bacon though I do prefer the version at Amici in Ewell, which has heavy striping from a griddle pan. My friend got one of the fish specialsof whole sea bass. The waiter kindly chopped the head off so that she wouldn’t have to look at the eyes and she pronounced it delicious. The vegetables were OK but not seasoned. We didn’t have space for a dessert. The service was interesting with the waiters having real personalities! The cooking here was better than at Mimi E Coco just a few doors down
