while the busy location — main road next to huge junction — may seem off-putting to those unable to access this chippy by foot, there is dedicated customer parking to the rear, even though motorists must access it from another main road. But why worry about non-resident drivers when it almost seems tailor-made for those able to eyeball it from one of the two pubs on the opposite side of the road. Just a pedestrian crossing separates them — and by them, I mean me — from a little wooden fork shortly before 10pm. Don’t expect a gleaming interior trying to reinvent the wheel, this is a classic, honest-to-goodness, old school chippy, where service is brisk and the chips are good. This is all about Dandelion and Burdock and pickled eggs than those chippy interlopers, pizza and burgers. It says something about it that it continues to trade among neighbours comprising several great curry restaurants and the best Chinese takeaway in town. Good luck trying to not scoff the lot before you get home … and pub patrons… do wait for the pips before you cross.
