Disgusting. Was served King prawns that were still frozen in the middle. Overly pretentious, aiming to please those who are more interested in the glitz of a restaurant than the actual food. Judging from some of these reviews, Amore has succeeded in doing just that.

amore is set just outside of the heart of sunderlands city centre. would not have visited if it wasn’t for tje reviews i read! food was fantastic probably the nicest italian cuisine in sunderland! make fantastic cabonara and pizza! downsides… little too quite during the week so no atmosphere and too warm they really do need air con in there. i would have given amore 5* if they had air con.

Was there Saturday, 20th June 2009 and can only say the place was excellent. Staff were spot on, the food was brilliant and I can see why the Sunderland Echo review gave it 10⁄10. The only downside is that it is not the cheapest restaurant but hey, you pay for quality.

I made the mistake of visiting this place twice. The first visit was a disastourous event that the restaurant manager put down to a shortage of staff having the flu. Second time we decided to give them a second chance as we had heard them advertising they had won an award. Being lovers of good food and wine we were drawn back to this place by the expectation of some michelin star cuisine only to find it worse than the first time we visited the place. My partner asked what the award was won for and was and the waiter quietly informed it was for good customer service and was issued by some internet company that you had to pay? What a scam !!! Needless to say, we WON’T be back.

This Italian restaurant gives the impression of being a small intimate venue until you enter the dining area when you realise it is far bigger than first impressions and certainly capable of catering for large numbers of diners, I would strongly recommend booking a table for Fri. and sat nights however they do try to be very accommodating to last minute diners. The food here never fails to impress! The steak is to die for and the pasta is heavenly! The worst thing about eating here is trying to decide what to eat! My wife is a veggie and she is well catered for as well. The staff are friendly and atentitive. It may take some finding for those not familiar with the area but well worth a visit.
