We visited St Andrews in October and went here on the recommendation of a good friend, I’m so glad we did! Funnily enough given the time of year, and chilly day, the ice cream side of the shop wasn’t overly busy. It’s a bright, modern shop with a giant freezer cabinet showcasing over 20 flavours of ice cream and around 6 sorbets /frozen yogurts on top. There were lots of traditional favourites(like strawberry or mint choc chip) but lots of different flavour combos too like banana and salted caramel. We were offered tasters when it was clear that we were struggling to make our minds up which was lovely. I asked to use the toilet whilst deciding what flavours to go with and that’s when I noticed there’s an adjoining café space, set out with large booths, that looked rather inviting. I noticed a good few highchairs and activities for kids and generally liked the look of the place. The toilets were lovely and clean with a big old baby change area too. You can have you ice cream in a tub or in one of about 12 different cones! From double cones, to chocolate wafers, to oreo dipped creations, there’s something for everyone. I eventually went with the oreo cone with banana and salted caramel and some kind of super creamy vanilla. I really enjoyed it and the scoop sizes were generous. I will be making a return visit the next time I’m in the area.

Janettas will often have queues out the door and along the street as soon as the temperature rises! And queuing can be part of the fun. While its ice cream is very good, so is that of the lesser known Luvians on Market Street — where there usually aren’t queues! What Janettas also offers is a diner café experience next door to the ice-cream takeaway, with freshly made varying salads and soups including good veggie options. And if you order tea or coffee, it comes with a square of homemade tablet on the side. Only reason not to give 5 is that service can be a teensy slow in the café. If you have the time though, it’s worth the wait.

Everyone was telling me to try this place out when I’m in St Andrews, Scotland. It was for sure one of the best ice creams in the world. I’m doing my best to not over exaggerate this, but I truly believe it. I noticed a sign that said the vanilla was made at 7 pm and it was now 7:30 pm. So I thought I would try it. This was a great choice on my part. MUSTTRYTHISPLACE!!!

Would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the price. Great gelato! I only decided to try it because there was a line up going out the door so it had to be good! I got a double scoop in a waffle cone– Oreo and pistachio. I have to say that the pistachio was a little disappointing and doesn’t taste as good as some other pistachio gelatos I’ve tried. Oreo one was great though and luckily it was a sunny day so it was perfect.

Looking for delicious ice cream? One of the best ice cream places I have been to so far. There is a large variety of flavors. You can sit in or take away. If you choose to sit in there are also some cakes offered. When in St. Andrews and an ice cream fan then you should visit Jannettas. Enjoy

After a long day at a work event an ice cream in the sun by the seaside is a pretty good way to unwind. So it was that I found myself heading to Jannettas with my boss and another colleague for a sugary pick me up before heading home to Glasgow. When we arrived at the shop there was a long queue out the door, and while the obvious popularity was heartening I was worried about a long wait. All those people keeping me from my ice cream! I needn’t have worried though and there were plenty of servers behind the long counter, efficiently dealing with the crowd. This then led to another dilemma, how was I going to pick my flavours with only a few minutes to consider the lengthy list of options! Jannettas has plenty to choose from for everyone, offering gelato, sorbet and frozen yoghurt. They boast a rotating menu of over 100 flavours and there were at least 40 to choose from when we were there. In the end I opted for a three scoop tub with chocolate fudge brownie, panna cotta and salted caramel. The chocolate fudge brownie was suitably decadent, the panna cotta creamy and boasting whole raspberries, but the winner of the three was the salted caramel. The perfect mix of salty and sweet, with a lovely rich caramel flavour. It was quite possibly the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted. My cheeky boss who sneaked a bit also agreed! My only problem with Jannettas? It’s location, St Andrews is too far away from Glasgow!

Absolutely love visiting St Andrews, its a great place and the ice cream from here is always a treat. I tend to have the amaretto but the choices are vast and every one I have tasted is delicious. It doesn’t matter if its summer or winter, you can’t pass Jannettas for an ice cream when your in St Andrews

They have a lot of flavors that arent available at other ice cream parlors. I don’t know about«over a hundred» or however many they say they have, but they do have a wide range of flavors that actually taste pretty good! The location is super convenient. Its right near the historic cathedral/cemetery in St. Andrews. I wonder if the prince came here when he was in school… hehehe

Amazing ice cream in a huge variety of flavours. Make sure you get there early in Summer though, it’s so good that the queues are always out of the door!

Not much to say really. Well know for serving THE best ice cream anywhere in the UK and probably the world. If Carlsberg made ice cream…

Both a café and ice-cream take out shop, Jannetta’s has some of the best ice-cream I have ever tried. It has been in St Andrews for many years, and established itself as a great little place for locals, students, tourists or anyone really! Skyblue, Oreo, Elderberry(a must to try!) or Turkish delight are some of the flavours available, however the café also sells homemade sandwiches, tarts, cakes and in the mornings a bacon baguette and drink(£2) Out of the way a little down the bottom of south street(furthest away from the sea) it is well worth a walk down. It is a tad more expensive as an ice-cream place, but well well worth a visit and CANNOTBEMISSED!

I wasn’t brave enough to try the Irn-Bru flavoured sorbet, but with so many flavours available, I felt like a kid in a… well… ice cream store. I had a cone with one scoop of elderflower sorbet, one scoop of raspberry sorbet, and all dipped in chocolate sprinkles. It was divine. Jannettas has a real hometown ice cream parlour feel to it, including big jars of old fashioned pick n’ mix sweets to ogle and admire. Definitely worth a stop, even on the coldest of Scottish summer days.

The best ice cream in Scotland! I spent a lot of my student loan in the icecream shop of janettas, they have a huge choice of icecream and sorbet, including irnbru flavour(a personal favourite). I’ve been away from St Andrews for a few years now but Jannettas icecream is always my first point of call when I get back to visit.

Jannetta’s is always my first port of call when I visit St Andrews! Like someone else said, I always say I’m going to try new flavours and try EVERYONE but then I always remember how nice my favourites are! Ferrero rocher, double cream dime, brazilian coffee, peanut butter, yum yum!

The ice cream at jannettas is second to none. There is an excellent and constantly changing range of flavours to choose from including some scottish classics such as tablet and iron bru! Next door is the coffee shop with an equally imaginative menu of light snacks and drinks.

It has been my avowed intent over the past few years of attending an annual summer course in St. Andrews, to sample every single one of the 99 flavours. I’ve failed. Largely because the 10 or so I’ve sampled are so utterly delicious(and probably laced with something highly addictive to keep people coming back for MORE) that I queue(and boy is there a queue in August), salivating, desperate to have more turkish delight /rum and raisin /banana /coconut/melon sorbet etc. etc. Prices are ridiculously cheap. They could charge twice as much and people would still feel they’d had a good deal! And how they stay so cheerful and friendly and polite in tourist season is utterly beyond me. I have not a bad word to say!

It is hard to describe how good the ice cream is at Jannetta’s — the range of flavours is incredible and the creamy texture is second to none. Jannetta’s is only a short walk from the pier and East Sands beach, so on a sunny day, your ice cream hasn’t melted before you are looking at the sea — perfect! Jannetta’s has a take out shopwhere you can buy ice cream and sweets, but it also has a café next door with designer ice cream sundaes. Good selection of hot and cold food, particularly sandwiches, and desserts and cakes are also available, but what makes this place unqiue is definately their ice creams. Worth the walk down south street!
