The Grand Palace is a bit basic when it comes to a chinese meal. You of course are provided with all the necessities and normal range of menu choices but that is about all. Having gone on Sunday to take part in the All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet I was a bit let down by the choice and quality. But the price wasn’t too bad and made up for it in the end. Not to mention I got a free chinese calendar.

The only enduring memory I have of Grand Palace on Nevill Street from my youth is that we would always walk past it on the walk up to the Vue cinema on the front and each time, one of my friends would pretend to be rowing a boat whilst walking past, giving the illusion that he was actually rowing as they couldn’t see his legs. Hilarious for everyone involved, I’m sure. Grand Palace may sound somewhat extravagant, but inside the restaurant itself is quite basic yet functional, offering diners a comfortable dining environment in which they can enjoy their meal. Their menu offers a good range of Chinese dishes, many of which are available to take away if you don’t fancy sitting in the restaurant. They also offer an all-you-can-eat buffet on Sundays(is this a prerequisite for owning a Chinese restaurant?), which offers very good value for money if your stomach can handle being stuffed as much as possible.
