Having spent the afternoon in meetings Alex, Christoph and myself were starving and therefore I think we would have pretty much eaten anything at this point but Alex recommended a cute little Vietnamese street food restaurant and we couldn’t have got there faster(it helped that it was just round the corner). SO, Phở Viet 68 — feed me! The restaurant itself is simple, not much fancy art on the wall, wooden square tables — simple but perfect for lunch and a cheap and cheerful meal. We ordered the pork summer rolls and the prawn and pork spring rolls for starters. This(to my colleagues shock) was the first time i’d had summer rolls so I was looking forward to giving them a whirl. I then ordered the Viet chicken curry served with rice and a side soup to go with the rice and curry. The rolls came quickly — the spring rolls were thin and had a nice crunch, as with most spring rolls there wasn’t much filling but they tasted good! The summer rolls were interesting — there was only one piece of pork in the roll and the rest was fresh veg. In honesty I felt that they were slightly bland but I know they’re meant to be the ‘healthy’ alternative to spring rolls so they’re obviously not going to taste quite as good. Now, to the curry. I am a massive curry fan, whether it Indian, Chinese, Thai — anything with curry is fine by me and this curry was no different. The chicken was tender and the veg had that soft texture you expect in a curry. The curry sauce itself was delicious and almost tasted like a mix between chinese and red thai curry — perfection. When you added the soup in the mix, it was just a taste sensation and I’d definitely head back there to give one of their noodle dishes a whirl as Alex and Christoph’s dishes looked great! A really laid back, enjoyable lunch was had and I would definitely return.

Pretty decent. I came in for a bahn mi and sadly found out they only do it during the day as by night they usually run out of bread. Isn’t that something you would know so maybe order some more supplies? Ah well. I did get a decent chicken pad thai and some summer rolls which were only OK, but didn’t actually taste that fresh. I got it to go, and they packed everything nicely and nothing leaked or fell apart on my trip home. The inside is pretty and it would be very comfortable to sit in and have a meal with someone. And the staff are friendly enough. So overall, not bad.
