If you are new to Stocksbridge and you want to check out the local boozers and you’re thinking about going to this one, avoid unless you dress and look like everybody else. Even if you look slightly alternative or out of town you’ll get problems from the local riff raff. This pub is definitely one of those locals only pubs. I went in once with my parter, started playing pool, got abuse form a bunch of thugs and I’ve never gone back in since. You go to a pub to have a pint and a good time, you shouldn’t have to take abuse off anyone unless you’re giving it out. I’ve spoke to a number of locals around Stocksbridge and they’ve all advised to avoid The Miners like the plague.
