Looks like a very unassuming place to eat but you will be very pleasantly surprised when you book a table. Their takeaway business was booming(Friday night) and the place was full but not uncomfortably so. Service was second to none. I seemed to only have to think something and the waiter/host or waitress would be there doing it for you. For example, we had run out of pancakes for what was left of our crispy duck and before I could ask, the host was there with a new bamboo steamer with another 6 pancakes for us. A second bowl of rice also came with the main course before we needed to say a word. We had one of the set meals and were quite pleasantly full at the end of it. A meal for 3 came to £100 including several beers for husband and my brother and my 3 diet cokes. Parking very limited but that is the only downer to a great place to spend an evening. Will certainly be a regular place to take friends and family.

Don’t you think it’s always the way that when you go somewhere with modest expectations, it is, in fact, surprisingly very good indeed? Well this applies to Longhouse in spades… It’s in the wrong part of a boring town, with poor parking and a low profile. A colleague chose it for her leaving do so off we went anyway. Guess what? It was great. Really fine food. We scoffed royally. Lord knows what Malaysian fusion actually IS(I guessed they’d got a nuclear bomb…) but it works just fine. Roti, super hot salt & pepper king prawns, jambal spiced dishes. What a feast! I was so impressed by the menu that, for once, I didn’t have Pad Thai!!! That really says something. The staff were friendly & seemed quite charmingly confused. The waitress clearly had no idea what she was serving but that didn’t really matter. In fact, I made her try some of mine! She liked it too!!! Perhaps it was a little too salty but I would heartily recommend you go and support it. They close Tuesday nights & offer a far cheaper take away menu if you so desire.
