I’ve been to Crown Point a couple of times at lunchtime with colleagues from our Seal office. This appears to be their«local» of choice and although I can see why it’s popular(even though it’s a bit of drive to get to), with it’s tartan carpet and chesterfield chairs, it’s a little too like an old fashioned gentlemen’s drinking club for my liking! I like to go to places for lunch which are welcoming and relaxed, which Crown Point generally is, but it has a «chain restaurant» feel to the interior and welcome which is somewhat off-putting. I haven’t eaten here yet, but colleagues assure me the homemade burger and chips, and steak sandwich are good. Generally this kind of food, which to be fair, is pretty straight forward and the chef would have to be pretty terrible to get wrong so I’m not sure these recommendations stand for a huge amount. A good place for a quick drink if your in the area, but with it’s lacking atmosphere and ambience, I’d suggest seeking out somewhere with a little more panache. Sorry, Crown Point, I really did want to like you, but you’re just not my type of pub.
