Friendly ambience, décor is sympathetic with this very old building. Menu is pretty standard pub fare but with a few interesting additions. I ordered the stuffed pheasant breast and James had the T-bone steak. Both cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. Cost per main was £15−18. Good value — we’ll be back!

They do have real ale, just not real food. I ordered a 100% beef burger with chips and a salad. The burger was some kind of previously frozen faux meat, absolutely disgusting. The chips were soggy to the point that some were not even cooked all the way. I would give them two stars for their beer selection, but the food was sooo bad, that I just couldn’t do it.

I went to The Pheasant Inn for dinner with a small group of friends right after my wedding ceremony. Both the food and the service were fantastic and we had a wonderful time: we had made a reservation for just before the kitchen was closing, due to the time it was going to take getting there, and despite that we weren’t rushed ordering at all. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the pastry chefs even made a special dessert for me and my husband(complete with spun sugar)! I wish I didn’t live in New York so that I could go back often, but I will definitely be coming back when I can. Note: order anything that comes with mushrooms, because they’re the best I’ve ever had.
