Ordered a Sunday roast. Had the beef. And a chocolate brownie for pud. For 11 quid is great value(and only 3 quid extra for the pud). Service is top notch. Although the vegetable selection could be a bit more varied. Nice touch with the cauliflower cheese, and didn’t skimp on the gravy which is always good.

Average bar on Salford Quays. I only stopped here for a quick drink before continuing my visit around MediaCity UK. This place does serve food but on this occasion, it was a quick pit stop for refreshments. Located next to the Lowry outlet and has outside seating too. I will sample some goods next time I’m here.

Great place to eat and drink. Good atmosphere and just over the way from the Lowry theatre so ideal for pre theatre food and drinks.

Decent bar, but the staff are miserable and its a bit pricey. that could be its proximity to media city though

This resturant had very good staff and served a nice Smoked Haddock and Poached Egg Rissoto. The Rissoto overall was chewy at times but most of the time was Fantastic. A great resturant located just outside the Lowry. The staff were very knowledgable about my food allergy, he looked in his book to see if my dish contained Gluten and he even checked with a fellow member of staff and the Chef. The risotto had nice flavour with the haddock however the rice was hard to swallow at times. I liked the idea of very very small TV screens behind each booth, displaying what was on at the bar, even though they are very hard to see.

Me and my friend had lunch here as my friend was on his dinner hour who works in Salford Quays so wanted somewhere nice for a quick lunch. It seemed nice from the outside with chairs to sit out in the summer but it wasn’t the clearest of days so headed inside. Its quite a large place with a huge bar with loads of high tables on what side then the restaurant on the other side, the restaurants set out nice with booths at the back and loads of table and chairs, but it looks good, and its very modern looking, it does seem to be a bit of a sports bar with tvs showing sky sports etc. The whole place was pretty quiet when we was there and this was 12pm, i think everyone is now going to Nandos next door or the trendy Dockyard over at Media City UK, The service seemed a bit cold and not the most welcoming. The menu wasn’t the best with mainly grills and salads and seemed quite expensive for what it was, i had the chilli burger at £12.95 a bit pricey though it was nice though the chips wasn’t and seemed to quite bland and seemed to be cooked from frozen, they seems like the type u get from Tesco? It was just an ok meal, nothing to say that good about it really. Its a nice bar though and great if you wanted a couple of drinks before seeing a show at the the lowry theatre which is directly opposite or a couple of drinks on there terrace in the summer, but the food isn’t that great for the money.

Returned to Lime before a theatre visit and, although I wasn’t as impressed as last time, it was a fine visit. It was a fair bit quieter on this occasion as there was only rugby and one European, non-league football game on, meaning many of the big screens were turned off. We didn’t want to eat too much before going into a dark room, so just went for mains; I had the chilli burger and the boyf went for the chicken burger. In hindsight, we should’ve gone for the Mexican platter as it seems to be the best thing on the menu(why they don’t sell these things separately I don’t know…) My burger bun was a disappointing seeded thing which was slightly cold to the touch, and there was barely a scraping of the house chilli. Being on a time limit, we couldn’t really complain and wait for a fresher version, so ate it anyway. The overall flavour and texture wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t what I was expecting. Served up on a plate with some chunky chips, it wasn’t exactly inspiring to look at either — the wooden board the chicken burger came on was much more inviting, as was his ciabatta style bun. Definitely just an a-ok experience.

I’ve been here quite a few times over the years en route to the Lowry or after a stroll round the Quays. They have some booth-type seats in the restaurant and they’ve added more seating in the bar recently. The restaurant has a varied mix of burgers, classic grills and salads. I’m particularly fond of the chicken piri piri burger. It can have a great atmosphere, however it’s often dominated by football clientele which spoils it for me. Good range of cocktails

I have been to this restaurant a few times; and most times I have had an enjoyable meal. Today was no different — food was nice enough, not spectacular but good. The burgers are good and it’s great to get big chunky chips(my preference; fries are an option). They also have a good selection of main courses — from Moroccan lamb tagine through fish & chips and steak/burgers etc. Desserts are also pretty good. So, why three stars? I could probably go 3.5 as this is good pub grub. The service can be great or a bit hit & miss sometimes. The main mark-down is the insistence on showing football matches even in the restaurant. I do imagine some would enjoy that of course but it’s not for me. Also worth checking if you happen to go on a match day!

‘Nice’ ‘clean’ ‘stainless’. Good location and nice to sit out in the sun and watch the people pass by. OK if you are there, but not worth a special trip.

Wow, can’t believe I have eaten/drank at the same Lime bar as the other reviews. I, my wife, and more than a handful of friends and family have all enjoyed this place on numerous occasions. Yes, if you show up right after a pre match ManU nited game, expect to see some crowded tables with dishes, some exhausted staff, and a handful of people, but sit down have a cold pint, some onion rings and watch the match on any of there big screen teles, while they simply catch up on clearing the tables. Can’t say we have ever experienced any bad service in more than a dozen and a half visits. My favorite has to be the rump steak sandwich with the onions. Long Island Tea is delight, and in the afternoon a nice cup of coffee either outdoors or inside is lovely. One last thing, Free WiFi.

So James b on here rates the place 1 star when he states he didn’t actually go in? I will try not to be as arrogant and offer my own opinion based on several visits. All in all Lime suits it’s purpose. It’s a small multi branch bar and restaurant which tends to suit the younger yuppie living on the quays. Visitors to the theatre have a choice of bars from Café Rouge and any of the few restaurants so you have a choice of ambiance if Lime is not for you. Personally I like the décor, and the laid back vibe. The only thing I don’t like is the laid back service. Even when quiet in both the bar and the food area, your meal can take an overly long time to come. However once it does come it is usually worth what you pay. £9.95 for a beautifully presented Cumberland sausage on a pyramid of mash with apple compote is not overly priced for a place of this sort. Drinks can seem a little harsh compared to the city but then it’s a niche place and location. I have probably dined here around eight times and although none have left me speechless, none have been bad either. However, one evening towards Christmas I did have dinner with my family and the place was heaving, whether it was Christmas parties or theatre folk and they just could not cope. Our food took about 20 minutes to come for the starter and then 50, yes 50 minutes for our main to which we were about to walk out when it arrived. Once it had arrived it was wrong so maybe we should have. All in all, the place is fine and serves it’s purpose well, just stay away at peak seasonal times or you may be left missing your show or panto near Christmas.

This is a strange king of place, there was nothing wrong with it per se, I just didn’t love it. We rocked up here for a late lunch having spent the morning exploring the museums and galleries in Salford Quays. We decided to sit outside as the sun was shining and pushed a couple of tables together to seat all six of us. Unfortunately, there were dirty plates and glasses left on the table and we eventually had to ask for these to be removed as none of the staff seemed keen to do this. You order your food at the bar. The inside of Lime is a massive void of a place decorated in brass with illuminous lighting. Not particularly pleasing to the eye and certainly more suited to the evening crowd. The menu is quite eclectic and has something to suit pretty much everyone. I went for the homemade burger. The food came pretty quickly. The burger was ok, the meat was decent but under seasoned and unfortunately the garnish made the bun soggy and it disintegrated in my hands before I got to the end. The chips were chunky but a little soggy and sadly there was approximately six of them — I have a hangover, I need more carbs! Other dishes including the club sandwich, sea bass and steak sandwich were well received but the noodles were missing from the oriental platter. However, this was quickly resolved by the wait staff. Overall, Lime is probably a better option than the standard chain restaurants that otherwise fill Salford Quays, it just seems to lack a certain je né sais quoi.

This was the first port of call for the Stag weekend being not tooo far from our hotel. Going during the day we easily found a table for 8 of us outside, and the front of Lime where all the seating is, is right where the sun beats down so once you get yourself a cold beer its a pretty good feeling. When you get the cold beer though you potentially need to be careful what you want. I started on a bottle of Corona at £3.60, after which I promptly swamped to a pint of Amstel £3.60, so bottles were out for the rest of the afternoon(Corona is in no way surperior enough to cost nearly double). Beer prices I’m middling on, this place is not in the centre of town if anything its abit out of your way to get to unless your already on the Quays. The Food was pretty standard on price verging towards the pricey, a standard burger(no topppings being salad) and chips was £10, each additional topping being £1(one of my comrades quickly corrected his order upon realising his burger was going to cost his £14). The Burger tasted good and did the job of lining my stomach for the remainder of the day, though there was a noticeable amount of grease and water poured out of it when I picked it up. All in all I wouldn’t recommend anyone specifically go to the quays just for this place, you can find the same in the City centre especially if the weather is not on your side, If however you’re on the quays already and the suns beating down then this is certainly a reasonable place to go for lunch or an early dinner.

We managed to catch Lime at a time when it was barely busy at all, so the other reviewers saying it’s «always busy» was a bit of a surprise. We were really pleased with it. Compared to the other chain restaurants in the little courtyard outside the Lowry Centre, this is definitely the best choice. It’s got a slightly unusual menu that mixes all sorts of different influences– Italian, Thai, Caribbean. Service was friendly and quick, the atmosphere was laidback, and the food was VERY good indeed. I’d say it was mid-price considering its location slap bang between the Arts Centre and the Shopping Centre– it’s certainly not cheap, but it’s not as expensive as I was expecting. With the approaching BBC Media City just round the corner it’s only a matter of time before it’s over-run with media types. Catch it soon before it starts going downhill.

Oh my lord. Oh my fricking LORD. I apologise for being pernickety here but this is the second time I’ve been dragged to Lime against my will and I had an even worse time than the last. Why? Problem 1. The clientele. There I was, talking to some male ex-work friends of mine, and a gentleman sidled past me. Believe me, I won’t be calling him that in a few minutes. Urgh. As he sidled past, he touched my waist, which is kind of polite in some ways as you’re squirming past someone. You know, it’s just a reassuring pat to convince you he’s not shoving into you. Fair enough. The man went to attain his drink. He kept looking back and staring at me. As he returned, he did the same thing to my waist again, but his hand remained there this time. Cue much stiffening and discomfort from me. ‘You’re so above this,’ he said into my ear. What, Lime Bar? I know. But I wanted to check. ‘Sorry?’ I asked. ‘You’re above this. These guys. I don’t know what you’re doing with them. You’re too gorgeous to be hanging round with the likes of those.‘ What the hell kind of a backhanded compliment is that?!? Okay, fair enough, you think I’m hot to trot, you’re entitled to your opinion. But insulting my friends? This exchange obviously looked quite intimate because I could hear my pals saying, ‘Does she know him?’ I should have given them the internationally recognised signal for ‘kick this moron in the babymaker’, but I was morbidly fascinated by his sheer idiocy. ‘You’re very kind,’ I assured him, ‘but these are my friends. They are some of my best friends. So I enjoy spending time with them. I understand,’ he said, ‘but you’re so above it. You look amazing.‘ Right, clearly he didn’t understand. Thankfully it didn’t take any whining from me or physical activity to get this dunderhead to go away, but seriously. SERIOUSLY. Problem 2. The clientele. Yes, this does count as a separate problem. I descended the stairs, somehow(and thank whatever deity I can think of I did) I avoided paying a supposed £5 SubLime fee. Yes! Well, not so much. I’d have rather gone outside and frozen in the gutter quite frankly. Anyway the first thing I was greeted by was some complete village idiot stopping me in my tracks. Urgh, don’t make this last any longer than it needs to. He stopped me so I could watch him dance. I repeat, WATCHHIMDANCE. This involved him grabbing his leg and hopping around with his hand behind his head. As soon as his back was turned I went straight past him. Then as I stood and attempted to converse with my chums again I kept getting knocked into by girls dressed in Santa costumes. This got so ridiculous that in the end I growled and dug both my elbows into the back of the nearest one. This didn’t stop the problem. Urgh. Problem 3. The disgustingly dirty floor. I nearly vomited when I got home and saw what it did to my beloved Pied a Terres. Thankfully they’re a hardwearing suede and usually respond well to a little sponging, but dear God. The only thing that just about redeemed the night were a couple of good songs by the Stone Roses and James, but dwarfed by a playlist of Whitney and Take That, I can’t say I was a particularly happy bunny. That might well be my last time in Lime, unless it’s on a very quiet cocktail-sampling afternoon. Good riddance.

I’d go along with both the other reviews of this place… an interesting bar that does some great cocktails and a nice range of beers. Nothing is out of the ordinary for a modern city centre bar, but because of its ‘tucked-away’ location it is just occasionally a little less busy than it’s contemporaries which makes it ideal as a reserve venue to have up your sleeve on that Friday or Saturday night when other bars in the area are packed to the rafters. The staff are pretty quick to serve at the bar, and there’s a good number of places to sit both for drinkers and for those looking to eat too. The ‘Sublime’ bar/club beneath it continues the theme of ‘average/nothing out of the ordinary’ and as such is probably worth a look if you haven’t planned ahead on where to spend the later part of your night out. Worth both of the stars I have afforded to Lime, and not one more.

I agree with Emma-Louise on this one, it’s not one of the best bars in Manchester. But their happy hour is one of the best bar promotions in Manchester! I love 2−4−1 cocktails in bars, it’s just great. Most people see 2−4−1 as in you both get a drink and split the cost, not me and my friends! To us it means you get the cocktail you want that you know you like AND you get the cocktail you’ve always wanted to try but you might not like. Lime’s menu has lots of cocktails like this including Death by Chocolate and Midnight Love, now two of my firm favourites. Of course this promotion also means you get drunk twice as fast and spend half the money you normally spend! Good times! I’ve never been to Sublime(although I agree the name is very clever) so I don’t know how good it is for a club night but it’s never really come to mind to go there, it’s only purpose to me is the 2−4−1 promotion!

The Lime is one of those bars that is neither here nor there. When we went we stayed there for not longer than five minutes. Nothing stood out, nothing grabbed us and to be quite honest this place was highly forgettable. The only reason that bars like this manage to exist is the places they are situated. The Lime can be found in the Lowry Outlet and has little if any competition in terms of other bars. Its only worry is the bar in the Lowry Theatre that is mega expensive… but I would argue worth the money in comparison. Its a case of the best of bad bunch.

Lime Bar is situated on the end of the Lowry Outlet Mall(we’re all American now, apparently) on Salford Quays. It’s handy for the Imperial War Museum, The Lowry Theatre, the watersports centre and Manchester United Football Club. It’s a bright, spacious modern affair that caters for a wide variety of punters’: shoppers, theartre-goers, office workers and, at times, football fans. Expect it to be packed out before and after United matches, not just because it’s a 10 minute walk to the ground, but also because they’ll probably be showing whatever TV matches are on. Don’t let this put you off too much it will be busy at the bar, but not impossible. You will have to book, or wait a long time, for a food table though. Food is a range of everything from your usual fish and chips to Malayan Chicken on a bed of sweet potato and everything inbetween. It’s a good standard and you’ll pay about £10/£12 for a main meal. The drink prices are consistent with your trendy pubs, so don’t go there and expect Wetherspoon-type offers, but they are well kept. I can certainly vouch for the Guinness. It’s a good atmosphere and well run certainly one of your best bets for a pint or some scran on the Quay’s.
