This Booths get a star knocked off because it’s too small! Small, but perfectly formed, especially if you work near by and need to grab a quick but fancy ready lunch. By the way, why do all these new healthy/organic/nutritious brand have to use SOMUCH packaging?! I was horrified by the copious amounts of products which are packaged in plastic trays with film lids and then into a paper sleeve. Is it not possible to love the produce, your tummy AND the environment?! Anyway, a great one-stop shop for a last minute date dinner — great wines, nice meats, wonderful groceries. They have perfectly-formed deli counter and cheese counter and fresh bread. If you’re planing on driving here but not spending more than £10 — beware of the £1.50 parking charge!

I really like the Booths at Media city. It’s small but they have a good selection of items. The quality of their products is very high and they offer some unusual stuff that you might not see in other supermarkets. I’m a particular fan of the cheese counter and the fresh fruit and veg aisle as the standard in each is very high. They also have a massive selection of wine and bottled beers upstairs. A great place to go food shopping if you’re feeling a bit flush.

Weekends are dedicated to Booths excursions because once you’ve entered, you don’t want to leave. This branch in Media City has two floors of absolute glory. Of course with the Booths card you get even greater deals and free coffee every time you visit. Overall, I’ve definitely indulged more than I should in Booths food but it’s completely worth it. Plus just wait till you check out the alcohol section… #dinnowithvino

I really like Booths and have been coming fairly regularly pretty much since it opened. It’s easy to get to on the tram, being less than 5 mins from the Media City stop. You can also get the 50 which stops near the Lowry or the X50 which stops just a 5 minute walk over the bridge on Trafford Wharf Road. There’s also a car park for drivers and I think you get your parking fare back, though as I don’t drive I haven’t actually tested this out. I’m writing this review whilst sat in the upstairs café having a hot chocolate and pain au chocolat as a mid-shopping pit stop. They also do Teapigs tea and standard range of coffees. If you have a Booths card(high recommend you do) then your hot drink is free when you buy food in the café. Shopping wise, for a supermarket, it is great. The staff are friendly and I chat to quite a few of them who I have got to know over the years. Booths are ethical and make an effort to stock local products. They can also trace the meat from the counter back to source it you so wish. Their milk is branded as ‘fair milk’ which means they pay their dairy farmers the fair market price, which is great, and they were the first UK supermarket to do so. Though it’s a sad world we live in that this is the exception rather than the rule. If you come at the weekend there are tastings — on the way in today I had tasters of red wine, gammon and some cake. If you have a Booths card, there are products(the selection changes periodically) which have a ‘cardholder price’. You also get price match on branded products which go on as points and when you get £5 of points, they send a voucher. I did consider giving 5* but in the end I decided I couldn’t given it’s a supermarket chain. Perhaps that is slightly judgmental of me. I do really recommend highly though.

I love this place, the layout is great and doesn’t have the boring ‘isles of food’ layout like most supermarkets, it’s a little more open plan, which makes it easier to browse and less claustrophobic. I love the cheese and meat counter, always something different on offer, and actually the prices aren’t too bad at all. I got some of the best spicy lamb koftas I’ve tasted — 4 for £3 and they were sensational after I grilled them on the bbq. The staff here are incredible, always going out of their way and very polite and friendly. I am often being recommended products to try, and it’s done in a way which isn’t forceful or fake but genuine. They do taste Saturdays were you can sample some of the drinks and food on offer, always generous samples and always food I wouldn’t normal buy but then go on to purchasing(ie the lamb koftas!). Also on Saturdays they have wine tasting upstairs where you can sample some of the wines, a great idea. Another good thing to note, they do very generous yellow sticker reductions– I have walked away with £30 worth of meat and veg for £4 before, ideal for stocking up in the freezer. What more can I say?! Helpful staff, great quality produce, local foods and never too busy or massive queue. Tip: Register for a booths card and get a free tea/coffee everyday

If you’re looking for a more upmarket grocery store then Booths is the spot for you. It has a wide selection of fresh food and vegetable’s alongside all your other essentials for the weekly shop. Upstairs they have a massive selection of wine and even a good range of bottled craft beers as well. The café is also located on the 2nd floor and provides a nice spot to sit and enjoy a caffeine boost, before, during or after your shop!

This is our favorite supermarket and we feel so lucky to have it in Great Manchester. I discovered Booths many years ago while I was still an oversea student and travelling in lake district. I was so happy to find a whole new world of new products I had never seen in the regular supermarket chain and I remembered the name: Booths. I have always been back to Windermere in summer after that and visiting Booths becoming one of the activities during the holiday. The café and the bakery in the shop were also impressed my parents when they visited Windermere. I never thought we would have one in Manchester until the booming of the MediaCity. This supermarket has two floors with extensive selection of nice food. We really liked the cheese counter and the wine and soft drinks selection upstairs and also the fresh vegetables&fruits. There are also french brand packaged bakeries which we used to get from Ocado. The diary, chocolate and cooking ingredients section are great as well. Basically, you could get all the nice stuffs related to nice food.

Really good store, overall he quality of everything is good. I have had a few issues with products purchased being off however these have always been refunded or credited with vouchers to more than the value of the purchases. I regularly shop here and will continue to do so.

There’s not much more I can say that hasn’t already been included in other reviews. It’s a welcome addition to the local area(makes a change from the other ‘Big Four’). Tip: there’s a free cash machine inside. Tip: check out the fridges that are tucked right round the corner at the back of the store, that’s where you can find the discounted cheeses, meats and pies etc. Tip: it’s not obvious, but there’s a first floor with groceries and wine/ales(and more recently a little café).

Agreed with the other reviews, at the end of the day it’s a supermarket. But no question the products are much better than your average shop and they don’t charge you more for it. Authenticity and passion for good quality food & drink wins !

I know, I know I shouldn’t have these feelings about a supermarket but I do. It has everything — cheese counter, meat counter, fish counter, fresh bakery goods with actual substance to them, a fantastic selection of fresh fruits and veg with info about where they came from, a salad bar, an UPSTAIRS! Seriously as soon as we walked in here it was like we had walked into a farm shop not a supermarket. The display was superb. Everything looked like a lot of attention to detail was paid, I could tell this from the outside. If you like booze — you’ll be in heaven here. The only thing I couldn’t find was the two gins I am wanting to buy — Bulldog and Brockman’s, but I’m guessing they are only for the super elite ;) The staff were very nice and friendly but most importantly knowledgeable about the products. As we were browsing the deli counter the chap behind it offered some meat for Adam to try and gave a brief description of it. There was also a sample table with some breads and oils to try. The only downside to this Booths is the frickin car park. It took us forever and a lot of screaming to get into the bloody thing, then had to drive on the wrong side of the road to get in it, then PAY to park!!! Luckily the car park charges were refunded by Booths which was a nice touch. The prices were slightly higher than the average supermarket but this is what you would expect from a high class shopping experience.

It’s a bit strange reviewing a supermarket because you usually know what to expect when you walk through the sliding doors, and let’s face it Asda/Tesco in Manchester is the same as Asda/Tesco anywhere. This is where Booths differs. I’ve shopped at Booths in Knutsford and Windermere a couple of times and have always loved ‘the northern Waitrose’ because they stock little gems that you won’t find in any other supermarket. There’s so much to look at in Booths Media City as there are displays of specialist lines throughout the store and all of the deli counters(time it right and you’ll get samples) look amazing. The first time I went I thought that the store was a bit small and missed loads, but then I realised that there’s a stairway at the back which takes you upstairs.
