I remember when this restaurant first opened, me and my friend was just exploring St. Albans and we pleasantly surprised. The restaurant does not look like a curry house so that was a nice change from the norm. Its a small restaurant, so you may want to book a table in the restaurant in advance especially if you are going on a Saturday night. The manger and his wife were friendly and explained the food we did not understand. Me and my mate ordered their starters which were devine and Indian tea. We had not complaints whatsoever. The second time I came, i brought my friend who is Kenyan Indian and knows her Indian flavors really well. I decided to go for a chicken curry this time and my friend had a vegetarian curry, because it was my friends 30th and I raved about this place to her so I was disappointed with the food. The curry might as well been curry soup, because my chicken was floating in a small bowl of watery curry. My friends said the peas in her curry were frozen, which she spoke to the manager about who was slightly defensive, he changed it, but the peas were still hard. I feel Singhli cater to Non– Indian taste buds, because their curry lacked flavor. I maybe not be Indian but I’m no fool, to something needing a bit of a kick. Their Nan’s and Pershwari were tasty and rice, but I was craving really good curry. I ordered a starter and it still came up tops!!. The bill was £30, I know I get better Indian food for less. The price does not bother me because the price reflect the area it is in. Will I come again… No! I will want to try other restaurants in St Albans.
