Melbourne Fish & Chips

This is a chippy and general takeaway situated in the heart of Melbourn. The fish and chips are of good quality and anyone that can finish off a portion of their chips is a better man than I am! They do other bits like fried chicken (which is homemade and very tasty) and kebabs etc. The place is very clean and it can get very busy on a weekend and parking is an issue. Which brings me to the big problem with it — the family that own and run it obviously know that they have a fairly captive clientele and their attitude to customer service is, in a word, appalling. The food is not cheap and when I am spending £20 — £30 on a takeaway I would at least expect them to smile when I hand over my hard earned money. They also have a policy of reserving food for telephone orders which is very frustrating and if you ask them to cook more of something they are just not interested. It takes 5 mins to drive into Royston and the takeaway shops there seem happy to have my business.
