Went last night 18÷3÷16. We enjoyed our night but I felt a little conned by the poor service. Our starter arrived ok and was about average. When our main arrived it was presented as Chicken Tikka Masala. Both me and my partner ordered Chicken Tikka Balti. The waiter took away our incorrect orders and returned with two different ones. These were the same extremely RED chicken Tikka Masalas he had given us 5 minutes earlier. Just different bowls. I’ve been eating at various curry houses for well over 20 years and I know the difference. I was starving hungry so I ate it. It was ok. Just ok. If you make a mistake the least you can do is to own up to it, especially when it’s the customer who is paying I’ve been generous with 3 stars people!!!

Hands down the best Indian food I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant, all the dishes we ordered were fresh, cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. Their naan is incredible and served hanging on this massive hook, it’s practically 2 feet long! Very generous portions and friendly, efficient service. Wide range of menu items to choose from and you can have the spiciness level of your dish customized just for you! Another pro is the ambiance, it’s beautifully decorated and just an all around great experience here. If you are anywhere remotely near Rotherham, I highly recommend making the effort to dine at Akbars. Order a few drinks at their lovely bar while you wait for your table, and then stuff your faces full of this delicious, authentic Indian cuisine.

Splendid range of Indian food. Wide range to choose from and obviously a very popular restaurant. It is always busy, no matter what day of the week, which can make the noise level rose quite high. Restaurant is modernly furnished, creating a comforting yet stylish atmosphere. Friendly staff.

wanted to try this one for some time, thought it was closed when we arrived as outside the building looked almost abandoned. However once inside we found an Aladins cave of wonder, food excellent as I’d expect from the brand. Staff friendly and prices reasonable for the level of quality. would love to go again.

Akbars Sheffield Meadowbank Road, Rotherham, S612NF 1709555500 Went last night(08/02/2012). We have been a couple of times before. Spot on food. Staff are OK and have a joke with you. We didn’t book and the place was rammed so were worried about getting a table, but they found us one with very little waiting time. The drinks are rather expensive £3 a bottle(330ml). I was driving so only had 4 of them and it came to £12. Good job I was driving! The whole bill came to £56 something for two of us and we were both stuffed. I had Chicken Nimbala or something to start with which was chicken in a creamy cheese sauce with potato’s. Made a change from the prawn cocktails I always have and was nice(Chez didn’t like mine). I then have the chicken tikka masala as usual which was really nice with mushroom rice and the«bounty» nann bread. Good points: Great atmosphere — it was noisy and plenty of birthday party’s in, but the noise wasn’t too loud and overbearing like some places. Car park was full, but we always manage to find a spot. Bad points: Drinks are only serverd in little 330ml bottles — no draught beer and no glasses(bit chavy). Really expensive drinks too. Would definately go again. Went again 30-10-2012: £41 for two of us. No starters, just a curry each and shared a rice. Cobra is still £3 a bottle and red wine was £3 a glass too. This is number 1 on my Indian list.
