A real gem in Ross-on-Wye! Amazingly well presented and tasty food served by a friendly and helpful husband and wife team who have all the time in the world for their guests. They are obviously tremendously proud of their culture and they were happy to share it with us. We will DEFINATELY go back for more!

Ross on Wye is not somewhere I would recommend visiting — it is a bit of a dump. We were having a weekend at the Warner hotel in Holme Lacey near Hereford. However, the tripadvisor reviews tempted me to travel a day early and stay just outside the town for one night and book a table at Yaks N Yetis. Booking over the phone was not easy and I gave up trying to spell out my surname to the friendly lady. When we arrived the area was as others have described it — Scruffy. However, once inside we were greeted by very genuine smiling faces. We were still a little worried as it was after 7pm and the restaurant was completely empty, but we need not have worried as by the time we left the restaurant was full of very happy diners and this was a ‘quiet’ Thursday. The staff were delightful and the male owner was very attentive and extremely helpful. He apologised when we finally left as he obviously felt that he wanted to talk to us more about his food. Nevertheless he had advised my wife to change her order so that it complimented what I was having so that we could share both and get best value. We both felt that we had been treated like honoured guests and that the staff only wanted to please us. There are very few places where we have been made this welcome and were able to observe all the other GUESTS(for that is how everyone was treated) being attended to in exactly the same friendly and helpful manner. So what about the food? We were not disappointed. The starters were excellent and good value. The real treat was the batter on the giant prawns starter which was the very best that I have ever tasted. A few Michelin Star Chefs could learn a lot about deep fried batter from these lovely people. The mains were equally beautifully prepared and presented. I will not mention specifics from the menu as I suspect that it does not matter what you chose as it will all be exceptionally good and if you are a bit unsure, as we were, you only have to ask. To sum up, this restaurant is run by delightfully helpful and friendly people who are obviously proud of their heritage and genuinely want to please and make you happy. They are proud of their food and rightly so and I cannot envisage how one could ever have a disappointing meal here. It is also excellent value which is almost irrelevant when the food and service is this good. I really cannot recommend this restaurant too highly. We live 200 miles away(East Sussex) so I am not sure when we will be able to visit this area again, but we do have a Nepalese restaurant in Hastings which we have never visited, but I fear that after our experience in Yaks N Yetis we are destined to be disappointed. So if you live within driving distance of Ross on Wye go to Yaks N Yetis. A special thanks to previous reviewers, without whom we would not have experienced this wonderfully different restaurant with its delightful staff and superb food.
