This branch of ASDA is one of two in Rochdale, this particular branch is located in the Kingsway Retail Park, and is infact very small. It is so small to the point where, Asda who hand out their«superstore» branches to stores that are indeed not a superstore, or even a large store infact, so just having the«supermarket» title is saying something. This store is infact, very small and everything is squeezed in, I do feel it is slightly offputting to be looking at gluten free food for example, and turning your back on meats and sausages, and with weird twists on isles like that, so close to each other. This store is very small, they do seem to stock the essentials, even for gluten free, but the range is quite poor, with most products not being best in that range for example, so this store mainly acts as more of a corner shop, rather than a place to do your weekly shop. This store does have a pizza counter, but in such a small store, counters like these are unnecessary, as it just adds more to an already cramped space. The range of items, such as sausages is very small, and rather than a good ¼ or ½ of a reasonable size isle full, they seemed to only have a handful to choose from, this wasn’t great, and this was the same for other items, such as Starbucks iced coffee beverages, some stores might have a good range consisting of a good amount of flavours, from many companies, but they barely had one here! I don’t really like the look and layout of this store either, as it seems they are trying to do so much in such a small space, and although they do stock the essentials, the range is only the basic essentials, with certain brands not being stocked. They is also not a lot of frozen food either, for both gluten free and non-gluten free, which is quite poor compared to ASDA stores, although I do feel this has to be expected from their size, I do feel this store could do a lot better, by cutting back on certain items such as «counters» and improving the range they already have, adding more choice. This ASDA seems to be a good alternative to act as a «corner-shop», as they do have a coffee machine and most of the basics, but if you are looking for a supermarket, this isn’t the place to go. I feel 2 stars is fair simply because of the range compared to other ASDA’s, and the feel of this store being so small and cramped, helps it fall short of a higher rating too.
