We stopped in for a pint when we had some time to kill on a Monday afternoon. Service was fine, though the place looked a little dingy. We thought of ordering food, but the menus were stuck together by… something, so we decided to move on. Seems like a fun place to grab a drink, but I’m not sure I’d like to eat here.

Update: like all O’Neills they no longer show sport on TV. Something to consider if you are looking for a sport venue, possibly pre-twickers. This is a typical O’Neill’s, with the standard look and feel and layout. They there is limited chance of getting real ale drink in there, but you never know. It’s pretty big with a section at the front(with a old style TV), a quite area around the side and the back with standing room a couple of booths and 2 large projector screens. This place can get very busy during a big football match and during the rugby, this is even more so when there is rugby on at Twickenham. The back area will often be a huge mass of people standing. They have a heated beer garden at the side of the pub, and a good selection of sized tables for small and larger groups throughout the place. The food is at a good enough standard and quite reasonably prized, though I think the beer prices are a little high for that is, at the end of the day, just a chain pub.

A well tried and tested formula gives you an Irish pub all over London and beyond. I have never been interested in the food as my experience has always been a bad one with bland food that you can get anywhere. As a pub however it is typically chain pub /Irish. Great music in the Richmond pub with local bands playing regularly and normally good Guinness which I have spells of drinking. Located in Richmond town centre so close to all the other bars it does have the habit of getting queues and large aggressive bouncers who make it as hard as possible to get. Add to that the fact that it takes a long time to get served and I for one am getting bored. On that basis I tend to go in the week or early evenings as it avoids the rush and is far more civilised. If you are having a night out in Richmond, it’s worth a visit but go early and then move on else where.
