In the heart of Richmond lies this little gem. The food is great and tastecard works here so it’s half price. Only on food :)

This might be a 3(or maybe even 4 stars) if we went as a small group, but in a large group, it is just not worth heading to Moomba. We went there for a friend’s birthday in a group of 12 people, and there were several things that made me unimpressed. Firstly, they said as we were a big group, we each had to order a 3 course meal in advance. We thought this was a little strange, but fair enough if we took up half the space in the restaurant. When we arrived, we didn’t take up much room in the back, so I’m really not sure why they insisted on making us order so much! They got my order wrong(despite us e-mailing it in advance). The food was not bad, but didn’t have any ‘wow’ factor that you might expect from the prices, especially compared to some of the other awesome, and far cheaper places I have been recently. My boyfriend said his pork belly was edible, but not even half as good as the one we had a few weeks ago at Tomoe. We had decided to share a cheese board at the end of the meal, but the staff had got our order mixed up(again) and brought us two boards. I was told that they couldn’t change the order, and we would be charged for both whether we ate it or not. Meh. I won’t go back here again.

One reason for 4 starts: Duck fat fried frites. You really need not ask for more. Great place for lunch/brunch. I had a steak sandwich which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was served with fries that were cooked in duck fat. If only this were good for you, it would be perfect. Service was good and the atmosphere was modern but with charm. I would totally go back when in the neighborhood.
