You know, the price tag of this place has always been a major deterrent for me. Then, Carolyn E and myself were at Braehead and I thought to myself — YOLO, whatevs, let’s do this. I am so glad we did. Because honestly, considering what you get and what you pay at certain other burger eateries, this really isn’t so bad. Free-refill drinks(and you have a selection of what feels like a million drinks out of the magical Coke machine), a stupid amount of fries(even when ordering a small portion — I’m curious to see how much you get for a large portion… an entire sack of potatoes maybe? Who knows) and a genuinely really tasty burger with all the fillings you want. The small bacon cheeseburger that I ordered was great — the meat was tasty and wonderful, the ratio just right. Yes, it was messy, but that was my fault for ordering green peppers on my burger — what was I thinking? The bacon was a thing of beauty — crispy and salty and american and wonderful! The buns were perfect and smushy and soft and fluffy. They’re super tasty. I will say you’ll wait slightly longer for the burger than you would at other fast food establishments but they’re worth it! The cajun spiced fries are tasty but spicy — but know that you can order the seasoning on the side!

Oh yeah!!! Sophie K and I were on an adventure out to Braehead when we decided to finally check out Five Guys. Being American, I was a little biased because I’ve eaten and loved Five Guys in the states, I was just hoping that it was just as good here as it is there. I can happily report that it’s just as good and makes me yearn that much more for home! We walked up and were quickly served as the queue was pretty small. I decided to go with the little bacon cheese burger with mayo, lettuce, pickles and onions. All toppings for the burgers are free and there is a huge list from which to choose. I also ordered a little cajun fries and a regular drink. £12 for everything, which at first I thought was a little steep, but once we sat down with the goods, I was pretty much convinced it’s great value for money. The burger is hands down one of the better burgers you can get in the city(even though we were at Braehead), and it’s great value. It may have been called a little burger, but it was huge and packed full of crispy bacon, cheese, and fresh veggies. The pickles were even sour(none of this sweet pickle crap), and that made my heart sing! The little fries were anything but little. It was a massive portion that was spilling out of the small cup they were in, only to be topped(in the brown bag) with a bucket load more. When you look at my picture, you’re probably thinking it’s an ok size, but seriously, I had already eaten at least 10 fries waiting for Sophie K to get her food. Between the two of us, we could have easily shared a little fries and had left overs. Next time we probably will. The fountain soda machine is a kids dream, really. First off, free refills. It’s one of those fancy coke machines that have been around in the states for ages, but I think it’s more of a new thing here. I love it because I can get cherry coke zero(or raspberry, lime, lemon, orange, cherry vanilla and vanilla) and they also had grape fanta. GRAPE fanta! For those of you outside of the UK reading this, Grape is not a flavour here. If it is, I never see it. We have blackcurrant instead which is the devils flavour. When I saw that they had grape fanta, I was pretty over the moon. All in all, this place is one of my favs. Has been since my dad introduced us to it back in the states. It’s full of great memories with my dad and now new ones with my best pea. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was always someone around picking up any random rubbish lying about. They don’t have peanuts to shell while you wait like they do in America, but that’s ok, I never really went for them anyway. I can’t wait to go to the one in city centre! Value for money, great food and lots of it!!!

It is surprising how often I have a burger at Five Guys. I would not say that I eat there because I love their food so much: it is always a reliable quality without any bigger flaws or highlights, probably delivering the exact clone of whatever I ordered here for the first time. To be honest, their ads and slogans sound much better than what you really get, and real burger fans would probably complain that the meat is closer to well done than to medium, but if you want to get a burger quickly in a fast food restaurant from a bigger chain, it does not really get any better than this. If I wanted to take the time, think about what I am going to order, actually give some respect to that burger and enjoy the taste, I would definitely go somewhere else, but if you only need the calories to keep you going for the rest of your busy day, then Five Guys is a good choice.

As an American, I was never that big a fan of Five Guys. It’s good, but you know, eh. I recently learned that they offer lettuce-wrapped burgers here in the UK and decided to give them another try. The burger was good; I probably would skip the grilled mushrooms next time, but I liked the burger/cheese/lettuce ratio. I had to get mustard and mayo on the side but just used my fries to smear sauce on each bite of burger. The«small» order of fries is massive and could easily be shared between two people. My only complaint about this place is the price — it’s really spendy for a burger and fries in a «fast food» environment. In fact, the prices are on par with sit-down burger restaurants, some of whom I’d venture to say are doing nicer burgers. My order of a small cheeseburger, small fries and drink was nearly 11 quid! There are nicer meals to be had at that price. Still, I can’t fault the taste or quality, and I appreciate having the lettuce wrap as a gluten free option.

I love the burgers, I love the fries, I love the drinks machines and I even love the staff It will always loose a star on the price, it’s a fast food diy burger place… You can get a sit down meal for this price and served to you £3 cheaper for a burger and fries and I’d give it that extra star

Awesome burgers, well worth the spends. Really fabulous service here, too! Tasty and fresh is what you are paying for. Fries are SO good. Also the coke freestyle machine means you will never run out of drinks to try. Better service than any other Scottish five guys!
