Hammond’s Fish Bar is a solid 3 stars in my book. The fish and chips are alright, albeit a bit sloppily put together, but tasty nonetheless. Atmosphere: Located in Pontypool town centre, Hammond’s Fish Bar has outdoor seating as well as indoor. The décor is exactly what you would expect from a fish shop — incredibly lackluster. Essentially, a bit grimy and reminiscent of school cafeterias. However, this is no big deal to me, but keep in mind if you’re looking for a «nice» place to eat. Food: I ordered the standard Fish & Chips for takeaway which came at a reasonably cheap price. The taste was fine and the chips were lovely, but the batter was peeling off the fish and seemed a bit sloppy. However, like I said it doesn’t take away from the taste. Like I said, Hammond’s Fish Bar is a solid 3 stars. Nothing impressive, but nothing terrible either. Tasty fish at reasonable prices, but nothing to write home about.
