We took a very pleasant seven-mile circular walk to Lyveden New Beild and were well-rewarded on our return. Although we only dropped in for a drink, this is clearly a well-supported local in the picturesque village of Wivenhoe. Open logs fires and friendly welcome greeted us. A couple of pints of Digfield Ales Barnwell Bitter slipped down well and gave us an opportunity to appreciate that this place has a restaurant that will be worth investigating. Adjacent to open countryside and the River Nene, it’s in a beautiful spot.
