When I lived in Oxford this was a place we visited at least once at week, but often much more than this. It’s a quirky ice cream bar/bagel place with a good selection of fresh dairy ice cream and toasted bagels, including the ‘pizza bagel’ and my favourite ‘BLT bagel’ and ‘Meditteranean bagel’ they often advertise quiz questions etc with a prize of a free scoop of ice cream and there is ‘cow’ G&D merchandise to buy at the bar such as T-shirts and mugs. The best thing about it was that it didn’t close until after midnight — so perfect for a break from late night essay writing or revision!

This is a lovely place, and a welcome change from the usual identikit coffee bars you find across the country. The range of coffee, ice cream, bagels and pastries is great, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Try the ice cream and cookie sandwich, or a smokey turkey bagel, or just get a cappuccino and watch the students rushing around outside trying to get to lectures on time. A delightful change of scenery from the huge coffee chains that are taking over the country a slice of individual charm and quirkiness in the centre of Oxford. Pop in and drink up!

This is the original(and best I think) branch of G&D’s in Oxford. It has pleanty of seating and the best thing is the staff are really friendly. This is a great place to get a coffee– if you want to treat yourself the mad cow coffee is perfect– it is basically coffee with ice cream in, and is fab with the chocolate ice cream. They also have a good range of cookies and cake to go with your coffee, which are all very nice. They also serve bagels if you want something savoury– again these are very tasty! The thing that G&D’s is famous for though is its ice cream. It is fantastic, and they always have a great range with new flavours to tempt you! This really is a great café.
