Best curry house in Oxford! Excellent meal last night. Excellent service. We met the owner who was extremely kind and made us feel really welcome. Highly recommended!

Very attentive and friendly service. The meal starts with papadum and tasty condiments. I picked the Posto Dherosh from the sides menu, which was fine but not memorable. Went with the manger’s recommendation for the main course, and had the Kodu Gosht. Very flavorful and tender, and happily there was enough left to have it boxed up for lunch the next day. A very nice dining experience that’s well worth the walk from the city center.

Great restaurant with very friendly service. They gave us a free chick pea taster and plate of chutneys that that were delicious. We followed with lamb chops appetizer and tandoori chicken with aloo gobi. All were excellent. Service was not rushed and attentive.

As soon as we said we’d love curry, my sister-in-law made the plans for us to go to Aziz. We didn’t have a booking, but we got a table for 4 at 8 on a Wednesday with no problems. We started with the papadam with chutney assortment. There was plenty of everything in the assortment, and the papadaum was fresh and crispy. When it came time to order, everything sounded so delicious, and I was amused at how things seemed to be spelled slighlty differently than in the US. I decided on Lamb tikka masala, while Jimmy got the Chicken Korai spicy. We also got rice and naan for each of us. The food was delicious. The sauces were rich and flavorful. The meat was tender, not dry. The naan was slightly crunchy on the bottom and fluffy on top, just the way I love it. The portions were generous. We definitely could have been full from half as much food. Service was great, making sure that our water glasses were filled(perhaps they were worried about Jimmy ordering spicy food) and always checking that we had everything we needed.

I have been here a few times now. The food is always excellent –definitely a notch above the rest,(although a great new place the Dil Dinia has recently opened opposite). The problem recently at Aziz is down to the service. There seem to be more than enough staff, but when you have 4 waiters asking you if your food is OK, it gets a bit much, and yet when you want another drink, or the bill, you have to make a real effort. If you meet the owner, he is very friendly and generous. I hope he gets his restaurant back to it’s best.

I have loved Aziz for many years, and although it occasionally dips a little in form, it consistently sets the standard for Oxford’s ‘Indian’ restaurants. Not always perfect for larger parties, but for 8 or less I would always go there first. Food seems to be cooked from fresh ingredients, staff seem genuinely interested and seem to care. And over a period of over 10 years that’s pretty good going. Yes, you might be able to find better in Birmingham, or a few other owns, but if you happen to be eating curry in Oxford, you won’t go far wrong here. Expect to pay c10% more than other places. Expect to feel glad that you did.

One of very few good indian restaurants in oxford, service is brilliant, music is pleasant, prices are very acceptable and sunday buffets are very fulfilling.

Fabulously good Indian restaurant. I love this place and would eat there everyday if I could afford it, or if my stomach would let me. One of my all time favorites in Oxford and the world. I love Indian and I look forward to Aziz every time I visit Oxford.

One of our Oxford office’s top 5 places to dine. Enjoy classic Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine as you dine in this award winning restaurant. Located on the ever evolving Cowley Road with parking available in the evenings.

The atmosphere and view over the river are spectacular. Service is spot on. It would have been a great date spot but we also felt acceptable in jeans. The food was good. Malai and madras curries were very tasty but the meat(chicken and lamb) were a bit dry and missing vegtables. We were warned that the madras was very spicy. We order it anyway and it was hot but not more than we could handle(we typically order 4 stars in the states). Cost us 25 without drinks, appetizers, or desserts. We left feeling satisfied.

My favourite curry house of the ones in the area. It is slightly more expensive, but the portions and meat % are generous. Flavours full and distinctive. Good family value is to be found during the Sunday buffet ‘eat as much as you can’ deal… sorry: as much as you LIKE. I have never had a problem with the service. Best thing: I bet there will be SOMETHING on the menu that you have not tried before

Sorry, Aziz, I’ve been frequenting your eatery for years but I always find it indifferent. The same formulaic curries we find the length and breadth of the land with nothing new or any fresh ideas. Curry should be so much more than jollops poured from a cash-and-carry jar. It probably is among the best of the curry houses in Oxford which is a very serious indictment of the city given its huge asian community. Some pretenders are starting to appear but I’ve yet to experience genuine Indian food. For authentic asian food we’ve some estimable Thai places but I tremble when we learn that Aziz has opened a pan-asian restaurant that includes Thai food(Pandesia). Lets hope that Thai food can avoid the homogeonisation experienced by South Asian cuisine. If you want to try Aziz go for the Sunday buffet.

I’ve only eaten once on the Cowley Road but if this place is a measure of the quality then I will definitely be going back. The food is fantastic, second only to the Bangladeshi restaurant Elachi in Grove, near Wantage. The service at Aziz was impeccable, the staff were attentive but not annoyingly so but if you wanted them they were there

Voted one of the top Indian restaurants in the country, Aziz has enticing décor which is by far the best on Cowley Road. The menu is varied and largely authentic. Their buffet is an excellent opportunity to sample a number of their dishes, this takes place on Sundays. They have also recently opened a Thai restaurant down St Aldates in the city centre.

I went here during bonfire night last year i’m sorry to mark it a three star as there is nothing that wrong with it, but hey i live in Birmingham home of the balti. The restaurant was packed, has an extensive menu, serves Kingfisher on draught, and had a great atmosphere. I was told this was the best in Oxford before my visit, the meal was good, just i, ve had much better in Brum(sorry to be a curry snob!).I might add curry is my favourite food, and i could probably eat at my local curry house every night if my wife allowed.

Very very good quality Indian Food. It is also beautifully decorated — not your typical tat. The reputation of this restaurant is vast — it is award winning and seems that lots of people have heard about it. Eat in or take out — you can’t go wrong. Try out the chef’s specialities — marvellous.

This is a great restaurant but nothing like as good as it’s sister restaurant on Folly Bridge, Aziz Pandesia. If you’re in Cowley and you’re after a curry, this is definitely the one to go to however. The food here is great — all of the curries are really tasty and head and shoulders above other Indian restaurants in Oxford. My favourite is the bhuna — there’s also a good range of mild dishes, none of which are even remotely bland. The service is attentive but a little slow at times. We had a bottle of red wine which was a little lukewarm and I was brought the wrong desert, but it was otherwise fine. The décor in here is a bit odd — there’s a lot of rugs and green trellis, a bit odd. A good restaurant, give it a try if you’re in the area.

It’s so nice to have an Indian restaurant in Oxford that isn’t just a feeding hole for student clubs and societies or a take-away with some tables added seemingly as an afterthought. The food is award-winning and has far more than the usual range of options. Good points: Yummy food — which is the whole point of a restaurant, after all. Polite service Relaxed atmosphere Funky dotted patterns on the walls Not too expensive Bad points: Location — it’s right at the far end of Cowley road — not good if you live in Northern Oxford, but at least you can walk off your meal afterwards. Busy — it’s worth phoning before making the trek

Won the award for best curry house in South East England at 2007 British Curry Awards — in top ten curry restaurants in UK. Deservedly so, in my opinion; Aziz is always top notch and I’m feeling hungry just thinking about it(it’s 10am!) The restaurant looks stylish too and the staff are always extremely smart and polite(love the beautiful waitress in sari). Only draw back for me is finding somewhere to park — go by bus if you can. It’s in Cowley Road which can be a bit rough at times, but a couple of good bars to visit before hand.
