Alexanda Park is a very large park just on the out skirts of oldham town centre. A Lovely place to walk the dog or just go for a relaxing walk or laze around on a hot summers day. With wooded area and nature trails, lots of green open space, a lovely lake full off ducks and birds to feed. A really nice family park. Great in the snow as there is a brilliant hill to sledge down. A really nice place to take the family for a picnic

Might not seem an obvious day out to some but a lovely place to go and relax, maybe take a picnic or just go for a walk. It is situated in the Glodwick area of Oldham and is seen by many as a middle ground due to the diversity of the population. It opened back in 1865 and was really downtrodden and a bit of an eyesore up until May 2004 when it was granted over £3 million pound from the Heritage Lottery Fund. My god what a difference that money made, it is now picturesque and boasts a new boathouse and boatlake and a magnificent restored Edwardian conservatory. There are fountains all over the place and miles of paths to tread. There is always a concert on to represent something in the calender and in the summer there is a huge carnival that always draws massive crowds to it. There is so much greenery that you could quite easily get lost in it, Oldham should be proud of Alexandra Park. It really has changed and it’s tranqil atmosphere makes it a regular haunt for myself and my family.
