Masquerade

Devastated that this institution is no longer there. Apparently it has reopened in a barn in Worcestershire. A new fancy dress shop called Buy Feathers has opened further up the road, but they only sell cheap costumes, rather than the fancy hire stuff. At least there’s still somewhere to go to get the party started!

I love, love, love this store! It is absolutely fabulous for those who love fancy dress, or for those who are desperately seeking an outfit for a fancy dress party. It is quite large inside and the window outside is full of exquisite outfits, masks and general fancy dress accessories. Inside there are so many outfits of all genres as it were. It is great for all occasions and themes! I have been in on numerous occasions looking for outfits for themed parties, in particular Halloween outfits as a friend of mine insists on throwing a serious dress-​up party every year. Indeed I have always come away from there with something appropriate, or rather, inappropriate and always had compliments on the outfits that I have got from there. Another great thing about this store is that the staff are so friendly, helpful and genuinely excitable too when you tell them what you are looking for. There is also lots of make-​up and styling stuff, so that you can definitely leave here with everything you need to look the part! Overall, this is a fantastic store.

Masquerade is like heaven.
When my company got green lit to create a music video that featured a lot of giant fluffy animals that kidnaps an Irish mans son that ends up in a giant bear versus giant octopus battle the client stressed «are you sure its possible to get all these suits!?» «You bet your ass it is» we replied and arranged a meeting at Masquerade the next day.
Within hours we had all the suits picked out and a discount for getting do many, the staff were happy to help out, took time to speak with us, tell us the terms and conditions and worked with us on our production dates and pick up\drop off times.
The shop is insanely stocked. All the novelty character costumes such as: sexy cat, sexy nurse, sexy nun, sexy Ghostbusters, sexy elf, sexy airhostess, and sexy bowling ball. The list goes on, this has to be the best stocked place in the westmidlands, from my time prop hunting I’ve been to other costume stores around and even they advise me to go to masquerade and if they didn’t have it, then I should expect not to find it. The layout and love taken to make the shop look so magical is present in every corner, every shelf and every counter.
As well as costumes they have a whole counter purely for makeup, special effects paint and contact lens’s stocking such brands as Charles Fox and snazoo (both brands I use a lot)
Along the back wall they all their suits of armor and helmets, all in great condition, though these are the priciest rental in the shop, the quality is unreal and upon enquiring found out they were all hand made to order for the shop it’s self.
Every theme you can think of or any character you want to be is possible in this shop; it’s my first stop for everything visual now.
