Previous reviewer was a bit harsh in my opinion. Pretty average though.

Really underrated place. Lovely curries. Standard menu, but cooked with a light touch.

I’ll never tire of non-London prices. Never. They’re just so… nice. Such a refreshing pat on the back when you open a menu. A decent non-house wine for less than £10 is the stuff of dreams at a nice Indian spot in the city, but venture a bit further north and you’ll find it for REALS. Rutland Balti House(or the RBH as I’ll affectionately call it from now on) delivered the goods on Saturday night. Shame there wasn’t a line out the door, because we were treated like royalty and served up some delicious grub. Why the entire population of Oakham wasn’t dining at RBH this weekend I’ll never understand. They even made me a special chicken balti, sans yogurt. Legends. Hoo boy, the food coma I had after dinner… brutal.

This is where I learnt to appreciate a good curry. My local curry house when I was growing up, and somewhere I almost always go when I’m in the area, whoever I’m with and whatever the time of year. The service is great — the staff are knowledgeable, really friendly and the food comes in good time. The prices are also very good indeed, so you leave feeling really full but without a hole in your wallet. The décor gives the impression its an up-market gaff, and in a way it is. The neighborhood is more middle than working class, but don’t be put off. Families and groups of friends on a night out frequent this place as often as celebrating couples. The options are somewhat standard, I have to say, which is why it just doesn’t make five stars. The usual sauces of jalfrezi, korma, madras, bhuna and vindaloo are available with choice of veggies, prawns, chicken and lamb, as well as some great sides like sag paneer(with both chunks and melted cheese! YUM) and dal. All the food is great and goes down wonderfully with naan, pilau and a couple of Cobras. I’m salivating right now. Are you?

Really not the place to eat if you like good indian food. poor quality and small portions, bad value. Disheshes tend to be flavourless and sauces weak and taste cheap. The only positive point is they are very quiet so feed is fast, but would not recommend. Tends to be used at the end of a long night drinking rather than for quality of the food.
