I’ve had Korean before but never been to a one where you cook your own meat! Each table was set for about 6 people and had a strange tube hovering above it, this I found out was the extraction tube for your own little cooker that was built into the table! We had a set menu as it was a colleagues leaving do, not great for the veggies as it was all meat based, however not sure if that was just what was selected for our event. Starter was spicy prawns and glass noodles, then it was on to the main event. A piece of pork fat was used o get the grill ready and then it was on with the cooking. Veg was a bit in short supply butbve given it 4 stars based on the experince of bibg able to slice and cook your own meat.

I’m not sure I’d actually go as far as to say I’m a fan of Korea Garden but overall it’s pretty good and comparable to other good New Malden Korean restaurants. The dolsot bibimbap was really good — my friend had never had it before and got extremely excited about cooking the raw egg, stirring it for about 5 minutes by which time, yes, it was delicious, but also quite mashed. Seafood pancake was a good standard. Meat I thought was slightly below the standard of Yami — I prefer their beef galbi. Also, the meat menu is a bit hard to navigate. For example, I couldn’t find any bulgogi on it and a lot of what’s on offer comes in large amounts not suitable for one or two people. One thing I really like about the restaurant is its appearance — very cute, definitely the nicest I’ve been to out of the New Malden Koreans. There’s a private dining room although who knows how you access that. Secret handshake? Why didn’t they teach me Korean in school?
