Merthyr Tydfil is a legendary team, but they lose a star or two because of the disgusting sponsor of their stadium.
First-​Hand Experience: I have seen MT play once, with the Welsh friends I have, same guys that took me to see Newport and other teams in Wales. They were very nice about it. I wasn’t too impressed by this team though — they’re fantastic but there are some things about them I don’t like, such as what some of the fans were yelling. And hardly anyone turned up too, unfortunately. This was back in 2011.
They were legendary in the old days, when they’d compete in European competitions and were winning one Welsh league after the next. Now they compete in England it’s much harder for them. They are now known as Town, which is what they were called in their early days in the early part of the 20^th century.
They were originally founded in 1909 and are one of the biggest teams not in the conference or football league. Their stadium holds a whopping 10k.
