Fat Friday’s? This is the place. It’s not one of the best culinary treats that Manchester has to offer — it’s a glorified takeaway if you can call it that. It’s perfect for a post-alcohol fuelled evening if you’re in need of a pick me up at your desk. Although be prepared for the Chinese coma you are bound to experience after eating this! The place itself is primarily a take-out place with only 2 tables for those wishing to eat in. The price is fairly expensive I don’t normally like spending £6.00 on a meal at lunchtime however when needs must… I haven’t tried the chicken and sweetcorn soup however my colleagues are fans. I often go for the chicken/beef curry with half noodles and half chips. You get a fairly hearty amount with a drink on the side for £5.50, which isn’t bad for a treat lunch. The time I also ordered a meat spring roll was the day I went overboard and spent the rest of my afternoonin a fairly unproductive way. The food is tasty and hits the spot when your looking for a belly-buster but isn’t high on my list as is so many other good spots for lunch in Manchester city centre.

I’ve been meaning to try Wings for a change but once I got inside I couldn’t see much that looked appetising — mostly very Chinglish options and everything pre-prepared in the all-you-can-eat style. My duck and vermicelli noodle was a good portion size but not very exciting — no sauce, for example. I didn’t actually see any wings on the menu, although perhaps I just missed them. There’s definitely no dim sum to speak of.

Wings has a takeaway! Yes the god of Chinese’s here in Manchester has its own mini me. Does it serve things up to the same scratch as its big bro? Yeh well it does, with nice portions, sound Chinese options and Japanese bits, strangely the place also does pasties?! I don’t know if I want to give this a go as it frankly worries me. It’s cheaper than the full on wings experience and the food comes close to the standards ran in the wings HQ. Free prawn crackers as well! Which are frankly unbeatable. Staff are accommodating and will make sure all goes well. It’s 60p for dumplings and has lots of juices and the such. Very cheap, very cheerful and very nice!
