Unpretentious, inexpensive pub. It’s hidden but it’s not a gem. They’ve got a few different lagers and ales although not the one my pal Stacey W. wanted that they had the bar mat for! The wine was £3.20 for a little individual bottle but the girl didn’t give me a glass so I had to call her back and ask for one which is probably a first. It’s classic 90s pub inside. I was confused by a laminated Chinese takeaway style menu on the table that said there was a Chinese restaurant at the Waldorf. Plus there was a chalkboard in a little side area opposite the staircase saying the same. I didn’t investigate further so maybe someone else can review the hidden restaurant?! I also noticed a oldey worldy style poster of a 2001 pub crawl of Manchester. Quite a few of those pubs have now closed so its nice to see one still going.

Located close enough to Piccadilly station to be a good alternative to the awful bar on the station concourse. You’ll find it down a side street on the left hand side near the Malmaison Hotel. I hadn’t been in here since Christmas 2005(I remember it well, as my friend was dating the boxer Ricky Hatton and he used to go in here!) and I only went in the other day as I was with a friend’s mum, who used to work in here back in the 80’s! Purely went in for nostalgia purposes on her part and I can’t say I’d put it on my ‘regular haunts list’. Large bar with separate areas, lots of wood panelling and comfortable seating. Function room upstairs and apparently a hidden Chinese restaurant! Real ales available but not Iron Maiden’s Trooper ale, so I was quite confused by all the beer mats advertising this brand! Large screen for sports which is probably good for match days, when I’ve heard it’s packed. Cheap and cheerful but lacks a bit of class.

Not a bad pub, pretty large inside plenty of seats. Staff friendly enough. Bit expensive, good range of beers, would visit again, friendly crowd.

It’s an alright pub, round the corner from Malmaison, across the road from Piccaddilly train station. A bit rough edged and bloky but harmless. The beer range is fairly classic and limited but they have Timoty’s Landlord which you can’t go wrong with and at least one guest ale.

Traditional British pub. Nothing special but good pours and mellow crowd on the night I was there. Close to the train station so easy stop if you’re coming in/out Manchester via rail.

hard to find pub just off piccadilly with loads of characters and atmosphere, footies always on as landlord a liverpool fan and good selection of beers. loads of room for a seat too as never gets overly busy, cheaper than most places too around the area and short walk to canal street if your heading that way
