I usually come here to pick up a tea before I get the train as I have a Bite card which lets me have a discount. It’s not the best tea in the world but it’s right next to the platforms so I don’t have to weave through the busy station with a hot drink and a suitcase. The service is slow but the baguettes do look very tasty…

The food doesn’t look the best but the baguettes are so tasty. On a Monday, if you have O2 priority moments, you can get a bagel, bag of crisps and a bottle of Coke for a pound! Staff all seem very friendly. This is a very small unit.

I really hope that this was a one-off experience but the ham & brie baton I paid £3.99 for was gross indeed, the only sad part was that I decided to eat the thing after I left Manchester Piccadilly BR Station. Had I eaten it there and then, I would’ve taken the thing back. The bread was nice but that’s the end of the story, both the ham & brie was so watery that if I rung the baton out, I would’ve got water on my clothes, the food in the baton was so watery and tastless it was unreal. If that’s their standard, then next time I’m at the station, I will spend less money and get better quality of food at either a Marks & Spencer, KFC or a Burger King!

I am really not a fan of Upper Crust. I will tell you why. For a start, everything is about a pound too expensive. Value this certainly isn’t even by train station overpriced standards. Then, you’ve got the fact the baguettes really aren’t exciting and the bread is almost always really hard, meaning that trying to eat one of their baguettes is like having a crusty Matrix-style gunfight in your mouth. Not pleasant.

I want to like Upper crust! The baguettes always look so fresh and leafy! I want to eat it and feel wonderful about it! Welcome to reality, its not one inch next to nice! The baguettes are so hard and dry that the veggies in them don’t do justice to it! The sandwiches are nearly tasteless and when you’re paying around a fiver for a baguette or sandwich, you want it to be worth it. Truth is, its not. Many people still come here, as their before boarding the train snack and also since it’s very accessible. If only they knew how to make their food taste better like how they look, this place would be worth it!

I bet the fat cats that run Upper Crust buy their lunch from Pret, M&S or somewhere that knows how to make a good sandwich. If they don’t, they need to check their tastebuds are still working okay. I bought lunch from there yesterday and my throat is still recovering. The baguette was so dry and crusty it was like trying to eat sandpaper. As for the filling, the tomatoes tasted like they’d been sliced hours earlier, the brie was tasteless and the bacon looked and tasted like it hadn’t been cooked. The one consolation was the cranberry sauce but I’ve yet to meet anyone that would be happy to settle for a cranberry sandwich!
